  1. I know I'm 3 years late on this, but I want to say, there is nothing like your friends…real friends! The ones that stand with you, support you, love. You! I got a little touched up watching because it was so evident how much you guys love Dave. It's beautiful, and I had to deal with the same thing, and it's no joke. Dave, You know you have to deal with that for the rest of your life, keep everything in perspective! You have AWESOME friends, and stay honest with yourself and them! You're gonna be ok Bro! These guys love you and they ain't gonna let you fall! BELIEVE THAT!

  2. Dave brought life back into the AfterPrisonShow, seriously. Important member of the channel and hope he learned from this.

  3. crazy to think this was 3 years ago. I remember watching when it came out. Been watching APS since around this time and have seen a revolving door of people coming and going on this channel since then. I really miss the Gay Dave time on the show. I understand he has a family now and is doing his own thing but Dave will ALWAYS be my favorite partner to Joe on APS and hope that maybe in the future we can get some more episodes with Dave. I do hope things are good with you brother and hope to see you sometime again soon!

  4. good luck dave i am on substitol its heroin in tablet form…
i hope you are clean today (3 years later) and out from the fucking prison hell.
i wish you a nice life keep it up
    be strong man ❤💪

  5. As shocking as it sounds, right now prisons are actually being rewarded monetarily for increasing the numbers of prisoners who offend again. Unlike many other advocates who are trying to educate the public on this aspect of the justice system, I don't think this is something that those in the prison industry are actively trying to achieve, as I don't believe those in the industry are necessarily bad people. Allowing for-profit prisons should never have even been discussed due to obvious outcomes coming from the fact that prisons make more money when there are more prisoners. Given that corporations are beholden to their shareholders above all else and that these prisons are far more profitable the more inmates they house, it's logical (and even required by the shareholders) that prisons should do whatever they can to ensure inmates come back, and not just for short term sentences.

This is just wrong, and is yet another counterproductive aspect of our prison system that has turned the American justice system into a complete disaster. There is good news though!

For-profit prisons want as many inmates in their system as possible because they profit from it. It should be obvious to any thinking person that mass incarceration is/was the inevitable by-product of privatizing prisons, and it needs to be re-evaluated and/or walked back. I try to stay apolitical, but since the privatization of prisons was driven by conservatives, and conservatives alone, none of this will get better until Democrats get a crack at solving the problem themselves.

In particular, if we insist on keeping private prisons, then the contracts our government gives to prison companies need to reward low recidivism above all else, and needs to have strong benchmarks in place for that because the industry is rewarding the exact opposite of that right now! I want to stress that I don't believe that's being done on purpose, it's just an inevitable result of applying capitalist values to the prison industry.

The first thing that needs to be done is that prisons should be compensated based on how many of their previous inmates return to prison, not on how many inmates they house at the moment.

    The conclusion:
If you want the basic, obvious criminal justice reform that most of us desire at this moment, please look into who is on your ballot this election and show up to the polls on November 3.
We are all counting on your help to make America come out of this pandemic as strong as ever!

  6. I know all about drug addiction and heroin is one I'm very familiar with. It's not easy but you can break it. Stay positive and keep focused on your goals. I havent used heroin in awhile now and after the first 7-10 of being clean your mind clears up so much. Wishing you luck.

  7. its sad but turning yourself in shows that your a different person . and it happens tho. i had to turn myself in and i had that set in my head ok lets get it done and over with. even tho we feel like running the other way.. Its not a easy thing to do. Have to have alot of guts to do it.

  8. Sucks to see Joe so upset and mad. But it’s 2021 and Dave is living a wonderful, clean life and APS is still thriving! Woohoo! 🙌

  9. Dave is a fucking good dude. I’ve done almost 2 years myself and shit isn’t easy when you get out. Great to see this man turn his life around in 2021.

  10. My heart goes out to you and I have to say I have definitely been in your shoes I actually know your pain for real trying to do the right thing but get screwed over anyway by the court system!!
