  1. Son gets released in February after 3 years in. I'm going to suggest he watches you….and this episode particularly. Thanks for letting us in your life. I've leaned a lot and feel better prepared for his release. Would love to see you make an episode on how family can help with the reintegration after release. Thanks again!

  2. hmm i watch your videos it really helps im facing a lengthy time in prison and with no hope the only thing that helps is listening to your story

  3. thanks you so much for sharing your strength, wisdom, and experiences shamelessly with the world Joe. I myself have been incarcerated for non violent drug offenses and seems to have had to learn everything the hardest way possible. i want a real life for myself, a family, happiness, a purpose! addiction is not a joke, I was once a professional freestyle dirtbike rider exactly like those guys you watched on the beach that one day when you bought the willie nelson skateboard. i got into drugs, went jail, kept trying to ride while maintaining my addiction, broke my back in the middle of a show, and my life has been very hard. I hope you reply to this or just hit like on my comment. once again thank you Joe!! peace!! 😎

  4. Joe I hope you will read this but I have problems with addiction and your videos especially what you say at the end makes me hope that I can stop I have slowed down since about last year I haven't touched heroin for a while now and when I hear you and enjoy life the Free World and never take a moment for granted it makes me feel that much better thank you Joe and keep it up

  5. I have a way of putting the commission of crime(s)—a temporary lapse in judgment. I had one of those at 15. I was initially charged with arson. It was pled down to wreckless burning or burning without a permit, a gross misdemeanor. I spent 24 hrs in juvenile hall and the only guy in the female pod. I slept to pass the time in my one person cell. I did 100 hrs community service and 6 months probation.

A year later, I went before the judge to get my record sealed. It must have been on a Wednesday because I was in my NJROTC uniform, decked out with 3 or 4 rows of ribbons and gold cord for making honor roll. I showed up all decked out, and I probably wasn’t in there 5 minutes, when the judge rapped his gavel, and with that, my temporary lapse in judgment was behind me.

In 1999, I enlisted in the Army. In order to join, I needed a felony waiver, endorsed by two generals that I conferred with over the phone. Reason being, is the Army considers any crime involving fire as arson, a felony. My losing 76 pounds in 9 months pretty much did the talking for me. With that, I was a combat engineer until 2003.

You are smart, Joe! I believe the word that you were looking for, was introspection; the ability to look within oneself. The hardest thing, for me, is getting inside my own head.

I’m dealing with depression even though, outwardly, I am a happy, jocular guy. One day at a time…

  6. I know how you feel Joe I also had trouble with addiction. My addiction was alcohol. It wasn't till I crashed into my friends front yard and almost killing him and his friends. They were outside drinking and just went inside when seconds later I come crashing the party. The cops came and the only reason they didn't arrest me was because he knew me and didn't press charges. After that I have been sober for more than 5 years.

  7. Name of drug demon is 'pharmakeia'. when u feel the urge
Bible says to cast it out 'In the name of Jesus Christ' and
PRAY. Prayer is more powerful than the devil.
God is more powerful than the devil. Otherwise
it would be demons casting God into eternal fire
not the other way around. God bless!
