14. This is such a BS story, if it were an open homicide case they wouldn't leave the bullet there for so long and just start investigating it now. You had your friend call and pretend to be a detective to try and make an interesting story.

28. I wouldn't read anything into it. This is the last chance they have to collect any evidence from the scene. It just came to their attention that a crime scene with unrecovered evidence was being remodeled and that was possibly the last chance they had to recover the evidence. At least it was the last chance they had to do so in a way that wouldn't result in more expense and headache for you.
