Fitting the Intercooler & Turbo Cold Side Pipes #FairmontProject

Previous video in the series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17bfwKUxpmY

Now that the engine and transmission have been mounted in the car, it’s time to start fitting things together. I decided to start with the cold side of the turbo.

In this video I’ll show you how I fitted the intercooler and cold side pipes to the turbo system in my fox body. They don’t give you mounting brackets so you have to make your own. I show how I made mine in this video.

I also go over some of the changes I’m making to the turbo system so that it works with my carbureted application. There will be another video about some of the changes I had to make to the system to get that to work. For the most part this video covers the mounting of the intercooler.

Don’t worry, I’m going back later to paint the brackets I made. All I was concerned about in this video was getting them made so that they worked.

  1. Uh oh if it gets out that this turned into an ASMR video the community is gunna get creapster. Engine noises can have a very different draw than intended.

  2. I feel like the turbo is highly unnecessary unless you plan to race it. Being a daily driver this car seems ridiculously over engineered and not exactly " thought through" due to so many issues with fitting everything.

  3. This is exactly the type of noodling about I love to see! Makes me feel like, "I got this". Don't have air tools but I do have a corded and cordless drill, no acetylene torch but I got a can of MAP gas and big Bertha the 3 pound sledge 😂.

  4. This car is a beast, watch out mustangs and corvettes…. Just my opinion, wouldn't it have been easier to weld up some brackets for the intercooler saving time and aggravation of bolts vibrating loose?

  5. might as well not even have an intercooler if you have a charge pipe running right past the turbine housing. it's gonna suck in hot air regardless.
