  1. Haiti was the second nation to gain independence from a colonial power in the Americas. Centuries later and Haiti is not a world super power. What went wrong? Maybe BLM can help Haiti.

  2. This Office appointment is "Historic and Ground Breaking."

Funny; a gay man appointed as "Acting" to a Cabinet Post in the previous President's Administration has been pooh poo'd by Democrats as the first gay Cabinet Post assignment since it was only an Acting appointment and not a confirmed one.

As a Left Leaning Moderate Democrat the hypocrisy and the failure (departure/elimination) of following a plane/line of consistency in logic is getting disturbing.

  3. Who cares that she is Black, she just needs to be good. Oh, I know who cares, the Liberals and the Lefties. Keep on mind, race is not the issue, performance is.

  4. To the guy who said move on and forget about slavery, we need to think about the current effects of the slavery. Easy for a white man to say "move on and forget about it" (which is what every criminal or underhanded person says when they are busted) when there has not been an equal opportunity to generate wealth in the United States due to the racial disparities in education, housing, and business ownership. The US government actively worked to deny wealth building opportunities to Black Americans. White people used slavery for free labor and production to increase their own nest eggs so whites grew wealthy at the expense of black people. The value placed on cotton produced by enslaved Blacks was $250 million. Slavery enriched white slave owners and their descendants, and it fueled the country’s economy while suppressing wealth building for the enslaved. The whites get rich.

People who want to learn could investigate:

Read Andre Perry’s new book, “Know Your Price: Valuing Black Lives and Property in America’s Black Cities”

Read Rashawn Ray’s testimony before the Maryland General Assembly on the Harriet Tubman Community Investment Act.

Watch a virtual Brookings event on economic reparations with William “Sandy” Darity.

Listen to Rashawn Ray and Andre Perry discuss their proposal on an episode of The Brookings Cafeteria podcast.

  5. But, is she competent? Black and female are immutable characteristics and have nothing to do with character or ability.
Woke leftism ( intersectionality and critical race theory) is a racist sexist cult and “equity” is gullible dog whistle for Stalinist equality of outcomes.

  6. Weird a lot on here seems to say they don't care about her race but how she does the job. OK how about just simply acknowledge the fact and move on.
On the subject of how she does the job that would be a process on it's own.

  7. Mayor Janey,! Sounds terrific 👏🏼👏🏼 I have watched your way ! I am so very proud of you and your accomplishments! Congratulations 🎈 Now fly, fly, fly !!!!🇺🇸😷❤️🌺

  8. Sad. It's 2021 and Boston just hired a black female for mayor. I think Cleveland had its first black mayor in the 1960's. The US has a very long way to go towards human rights towards blacks.
