  1. Change that needs to take place: LED displays are damn cheap, people. What's with printing cryptic codes for errors? Print the meaning of the code instead. Hide it in the engine bay if it's ugly. I don't care. But don't make me attach a diagnostic tool just to get a line of text from a car that comes with several displays already.

  2. hey eric love the videos and answers ,,, sometimes I think you should do a combined show with another car guy on a project ,,, like night n day maybe you should get in touch with tom from TOMS TURBO GARAGE , sorry to say I found him before I found you and I loved his thoroughness especialy on that miata he did ,,, I found you with your older videoa when ur hair was long and it looked like u wer working out of your home garage ,,, yes I think your new image is great ,,, looks like a Richard rawlings relative  , great look ,,, and maybe you should change the name of your show to ERIC THE CAR BRO ,, LOL I don't know just shooting in the dark man ,,, but yeah ,, keep up the great work , I look forward every week to watch ya ,, your like a brother I never had

  3. Automotive technology you wish wasn't obsolete – I would say flip-up headlights. Those are just cool. Our 87 Accord coupe had em. XD Oh and crank windows, yeah.

  4. Is copper legal for brakes? In many countries I didn't think so. Also all brake lines require double flairs.
Replacing the lines with the same as factory material would be my recommendation.

  5. Hey. I have a question about a truck that I have. It's a 1990 F-250 XLT Lariat 351W. When I drive about 45mph and it goes into the overdrive gear, when I press the gas pedal to maintain the speed of 45mph the truck shakes and sputters. Only around this speed in the overdrive gear it does this. I had a 97 f150 Manual transmission that did a similar shake if you tried to floor it when in too high of a gear (5th gear at 25mph for example) It doesn't feel like the truck wants to die and it goes away immediately once it downshifts. And above 55mph there isn't a shake anymore in that overdrive gear. Any idea what might be causing this?

  6. Hi Eric. Awesome show. What will you do with the inline 6 and the C4 transmission from the fairmont? They should be put in another project since the inline 6 is bulletproof.

  7. your awesome man i like watching and like how you explain and show real problems and solutions especially as i am the yougest tech in my shop i love the knowledge and tips u give . keep it up bud you a G . do more chryslers plz haha

  8. Eric, Airtex fuel pumps are in my opinion junk,I've put (3) in my dodge pickup in the last 5 years and I don't run the tank below 1/4 tank but since it came with a lifetime warranty I'll keep changing them out.I wish i'd have known about Airtex before I purchased it but we live and learn. Thanks for the channel, I've become a better diyer watching you.

  9. Eric why do you think that in Europe we have more hand-cranked car windows than in the US? I mean, the times when the base model of a cheaper car still had crank windows are pretty much over since about 10 years. Some had them still in the back, while the front windows were motorized, but that's also about gone (I'd say you'll have a hard time finding a used car from 2010 or newer that still has them). With the only exception of the "El Cheapo" brands of certain manufacturers, like the Romanian 'Dacia', a Renault daughter, or the Slovakian VW daughter Skoda. Both specialize in very cheap vehicles (in fact, you can get a Dacia base model for around 8,000€, while Skoda is around 12 grand I think). But even if you buy a crappy VW Polo for around the same amount of money, it will already have hand crank windows. And basically nobody buys the cheap base models of any kind of vehicle over here, they are all just there to lure the customers to buy higher models (in Europe it's much more common to buy a new car "built to order", while dealerships usually don't stock many vehicles, because customers don't like not being able to configure their new car).

  10. I agree with your stance on swapping auto to manual transmission. However in the case of my 1991 toyota supra turbo, it was as easy as dropping the auto trans and installing 5 speed along with the other essentials such as flywheel, clutch, master and slave cylinder +inside pedal. The only thing I had to do to the harness was bypass the neutral safety switch! She runs mint now! But as i learned in your recent Acura 6 speed video the auto engine had a different cooling system and harness issues along with other nightmare problems. I guess i got real lucky with my supra! Old toyotas are like legos. I can throw a Toyota truck diff in if i want, or say i want to put lower compression turbo pistons into a non turbo block + non turbo rods they all fit perfectly! Also I just turned 18 and I love all of your videos man! I always learn so much from watching you work. Wish you the best of luck with your fairmont project!

  11. Anyone that knows why this happens please comment. i got 07 chevy uplander 139K on it. I can be just taking off from home or at a stoplight and it feels like the tranny slips/ studders then slowly grabs all other gears are normal But, once when i changed the air filter i forgot to reconnect the MAF while that was disconnected no slips at all hooked it back up slipage came back… Any ideas?

  12. I got a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500, Magnum V8.. Don't know much about them, but whenever I am on the freeway heading 60 and try going to 80, it takes too long to accelerate, I even have my foot all the way down the pedal, only works when I press it down really hard, on V8's you can even do a burn out, but no with mine, it doesn't even accelerate like it's suppose to.. With other Rams its no problem, only with mine. Could it be the transmission?

  13. no question, just want to say thank you for doing what you do please keep up the good work. i do find some of the non-automotive repair questions entertaining (probably no more than were in this video though) i look forward to seeing more Fairmont videos and definitely enjoyed the engine replacement series. dont go torturing yourself to soon with an auto to manual transmission swap! get your sleep and stay dirty

  14. Hey Eric, great videos. WRT your dad's truck…family's important and you should move forward with helping your dad rebuild that truck (not that my opinion really matters in this regard).I'd like to see you and your dad rebuild the truck.

  15. Hi my Holden vz is sounding like a tracker? But if I pull over an turn car off it goes away for a bit HELP

  16. I think the build show would be awesome! Way better than engineering explained and with less gray hair!!!
P.S. I still like you Engineering Explained Guy

  17. I don't mean to be smart but I think the gut is from all that beer and pizza and fried food in the past lol that's why i have a gut. I no longer drink was a heavy beer drinker for a good few years my problem is mostly eating the wrong foods even though they taste so good haha.

  18. hair I usually watch a lot of your videos when it comes to learning how to fix something correctly I really appreciate how you going to detail and you explain everything I really appreciate how you explain how the thing works first because like you always say in order to be able to fix it you have to know how it works. What I would like to know is how do I get more performance out of my 5.4 liter V8 Triton motor it is a Ford and it's a 2003 I don't have a lot of money but I would like to do a few things to it to make a little more pep you a little bit more responsive and I would like to try to give it more horsepower but like I said I'm working on a budget if you could please give me a few tips I greatly appreciate it take your time as I am in no big rush.

  19. I used to have a 1980 Mercury Zephyr with the exact body style of Oliver but two tone Gold on top half and cream on lower which I had from 1997 til 2001 which it got backed into by a careless guy in a pick up truck, it still ran but only had the left headlights and I drove it to the Drive Inn Theatre before I used the insurance money I got for a 82 Red Fairmont Futura fastback which timing went out and so did the funds to fix it.

  20. Floyd truck hesitate when driving some time is it clutch or fuel problem changed slave cylinder and changed fuel pump recently and filter may be vaccum line s can't figure out don't know what to do

  21. 98 Windstar 3.0 when shifting or breaking I hear a clunk on right side …. passenger front!

what's your first thought. checked brakes they look great… transmission check.
