Galaxy S6 vs. iPhone 6 hands-on

Alex compares the Samsung Galaxy S6 to it’s arch nemesis, the Apple iPhone 6. Both are high end and premium devices with matching price points. There are some similarities like the curved design, physical home button, and have a touch based fingerprint scanner. Their in person look and feel is quite different. While their size is quite close, the Galaxy S6 tends to be a bit chunkier with the camera bump around the back. Samsung has the larger device, and both can be held in one hand. While each has a vibrant and fantastic display, they are again, radically different. The S6 runs Android 5.0 lollipop is flawlessly smooth and has dropped a lot of the previous bloatware. The iPhone 6 is running iOS 8.1 has a huge library of apps, and focuses on design and responsiveness but less ability to tweak. The Samsung does win out with wireless charging, but it’s battery life is still to be determined when compared against the proven day of regular use you’ll get out of an iPhone. The S6 has a 16 MP camera with OIS and an F1.9 lens vs. Apple’s 8MP camera with 1.5micron pixels. It’ll take a few months to choose a winner, but whichever way you go, it’s a great time to be choosing an new phone.

  1. People compare specs all the time, which is more powerful. People argue over features and such too, but I hardly ever see anyone utilize them. I have had a couple I phones and several android phones and no matter which one I use, android always has more features than iOS has. Not just BS features, actual usable things.
Take the S5 for example (my current phone)

The first feature I like that is available on all android phones, is widgets, there are so many out there, but my favorite is the flashlight one that comes with touchwiz and google music id.

Second feature is the toggles for WiFi, bluetooth,NFC, power saving, location, etc. And the brightness slider, Samsung has had this for a while and although iphones have some toggles, most people I see with iPhone never use them.

Battery life, basic daily usage, the galaxy s5 will outlast any phone, especially with ultra power save mode, apple doesn't have that.

Sorry if there are spelling/grammar mistakes, its 3 am and I'm blasted.

  2. so heres the comparison youve been waiting for
GS6: better camera – more pixels, better low light performance, more features
better processor – 8 core, 4 cores are extremely powerful, 4 are weaker to conserve battery
better screen – 2k super amoled display, BLACKS ARE BLACK not dark blue
better chassis – the whole phone will be tougher than the iphone 6
    built in wireless charging
    better payment system support
    THINNER at 6.8mm
starts at 32gb for the base model while iphone starts at 16
    bigger battery 2600 vs 1800
better front facing camera 5mp with extremely good low light performance and real time hdr
    possibly louder speaker
IR port to control your tv and other things
    better DAC (wolfson)
much better memory technology UFS 2.0 and DDR4 Ram
GS6 outperforms every single phone out there in performance and benchmarks in CPU and GPU
    GS6 starts at $699, iphone 6 starts at $650
PS : i have a iphone 6 and im replacing it with a gs6 on april 10 theres just no reason to have this boring ass phone

  3. Samsung hire someone to design your phone from scratch! The galaxy is straight trash. lol The only phone that I would buy from Samsung is the Note 4. I tried the Galaxy s4 a while back and right away went back to my M7, the s4 was super slow.

  4. The only downside of the S6 is that ugly cam housing on the white model, other than that its nice but if I had to choose this or the m9. I would go M9

  5. Honestly speaking even though I'm an Android fan I really like the iPhone 6's hardware. I'm glad Samsung's new flagship is as beautiful and as premium and as thin as the iPhone 6. And touchwiz actually looks toned down and much more responsive now.

  6. The s6 looks so much better, from the screen to the overall look of the phone. The camera will be better as well as the battery life. I don't see a competition.
