HTC One M9 hands-on

Phil goes hands on with the new HTC One M9. One of the more anticipated models of 2015, it’s the third version of the M series and it’s very much still a part of the family. The display is 5-Inches at 1080p resolution, and isn’t going to kill your battery. When it comes to the speakers on the M9, we’ve still got boomsound with something extra special from Dolby. The M9 is a bit easier to hold in your hand, with a little lip on the edges helps to hold on and has that awesome new gold trim. The body has fewer parts, and the metal has a great finish, to make it the best looking HTC lately. You can pick this up in black on grey, or all gold if you want something a little different. A single 20MP sony lens that also deliver 4k video, and does a decent job in good light—while falling a bit short in lower light. The M9 is running Android 5.0 Lollipop, with HTC’s Sense7 custom user interface.

  1. The M7 has the best design M8 & M9 have more rounded edges looking like iphone. But still going from my  M7 to M9 is going to be a great jump.

  2. Is this your phone or not, If it was yours, I doubt you would put it on that kind of surface. Respect people who has spent time and effort  to make it by respecting the phone,

  3. As a Samsung lover, I feel energized! For the last couple years I had to stay low for all the hatred from HTC fans for the plastic designs. I didn't have much to answer. Now I can confidently say S6/S6E > M9  🙂 M9 is still an amazing device that I'll be absolutely happy to own any day, but I'll be happier with S6E. Android brotherhood FTW!

  4. This is one of the best Android Phones ever, very close to Xperia Z4 (coming soon), even Galaxy S6 is good but i think with Stereo speakers, memory card, HTC One M9 is the best option as an Android phone.

  5. I still don't know if I want to upgrade to the M9 or S6 Edge. I currently use the M8 and love it, but I like getting new phones every year. hmm.

  6. So much want.

Seriously, though. If this doesn't have heating issues with the 810, I might pick it up. Provided we can get decent color options this time at T-Mobile.

  7. Pretty sure it's a Toshiba camera not a Sony… He's not the first reviewer to make that mistake either. It was harder for HTC to improve as all apple had to do was make bigger phone and Samsung make metal body. It all depends on how well their changes work… If camera works well and processor doesn't overheat well the rest is up to individual preferences. I don't like boring dull screens so apples out and I've never been a fan of Samsung UI and as I don't use a case I would scratch or smash the S6 fairly quickly. The M9 is not perfect but it more closely suits my needs. Once again the future of HTC is balanced by the camera. Will they ever get it right?

  8. I really wished they would have gotten rid of the HTC logo area at the bottom of the phone. Here's hoping they sort out the camera firmware before the final release.

  9. People are so fucking crazy. This phone is rewarded as being one of the most beautiful phone ever built! on top of that they were one of the first android phones that actually used great materials and looked amazing. So they kept the design for one more year and people are hating? jeeze, they fixed almost everything that people didnt like in the last model…will be buying this.

  10. I don't know why some fanboys keep talking Shit about this phone
Why in the hell would they ever change the design when it's already top notch
HTC have answered their camera issues and battery life issues
HTC has the lightest UI on top of android why clearly flies without breaking a swear,HTC has been building one of the sexiest and most appealing smartphones for the past two years they don't need to change these things everytime the release a new phone

People don't get angry when Apple doesn't change it's design or change their overall UI,then why do some Bastards raise their voice against HTC? -_-

  11. All I see is a bunch of retards complaining about sh!t. First it's the logo on the black bar, then the camera…really!!!! If you are an HTC one M8 user, you would know that the logo on the black bar is not noticeable at all, and that there are actually parts behind it. The m8 was the best looking smartphone on the market last year…why change that with the M9???

If the design works, why change it? Like others have said " if it ain't broke, don't fix it" HTC has addressed all the issues which people complained about in the M8, and improved upon it. Much better camera, improved software, improved boom sound speakers, better chipset, more ram and still included the ad card slot. Seriously mate what more do you want….GTFO!!!

  12. Had my m7 for over 2 yrs best phone I ever had so now I'm really thinking bout the m9 but ima wait a lol longer cuz I wanna see if a m9 max/plus comes out would like a lol bigger screen

  13. Am I the only one who thinks the M7's design was and is one of the best out there. I hate the onscreen buttons. I upgraded to the M8 recently and I hate the onscreen buttons. Also, the front facing camera is trash compared to the M7. How is that? I don't know, especially since the M8's front facing camera is higher resolution. The M8's front facing camera shots look way too soft. People get carried away with the number of pixels forgetting that lens plays a big role. I'm pretty sure that the M7's front facing camera has a better lens than the M8. I'm a big fan of HTC and android but when it comes down to the camera department iPhone takes it. The iPhone's front facing camera is way better than the 5 megapixels camera of the M8's. How do I know that, because my sister has an iPhone.

  14. Camera is still mediocre… In spite of 20 mp.this shows that mp don't matter for better quality of pictures and videos

  15. I bet if people didn't have to get a new phone every year they would appreciate an upgrade lol. I'm going from my 2 year old m7 to a m9.. best believe I'm excited

  16. Oh my god. The fact that you can completely customize the home button back multitasking etc. INCLUDING order makes me so happy. Definitely looking forward to buying this phone and upgrading from my galaxy s4 which suffers in the build quality department

  17. I don't know if the m9 is the Best HTC One since I haven had the chance to play with it, but for me, the HTC One S (in black) is the "Best BTC One so far".

Sure it's old and specs-wise easily beaten, but the philosophy design of launching two One (stupid name :x) phones at once was great.
And if you don't consume a ton of video on your phone and prefer smaller phones, the One S was pretty much perfect.
I think the fried-in-plasma-black and red color scheme of the One S actually looks sexier than the One m7/m8/m9.

I wish HTC would still make smaller communication devices (no need for a giant screen or front facing speakers) with bleeding edge specs.
