This cabin air filter replacement video applies to 6th generation Nissan Maxima’s. Some parts of this procedure may also apply to other Nissan models.
It’s a simple process and doesn’t require a lot of tools. It can also save you a great deal of money replacing this maintenance item yourself. Not to mention it will help keep the air inside your vehicle free from contaminants.
The average replacement interval is every 15K, sometimes as low as 10K based on the air quality where the vehicle is being used.

For those wondering about the arrows up or down. If its an aftermarket cabin filter like Purolator or Bosch or whatever, the arrows go DOWN. If you are replacing it with a NISSAN OEM brand cabin air filter then the arrows go UP.

Be careful, there was a string on mine on the left side hooked to a retracting mechanism, mine broke. Now I have to repair with a wire. It keeps the door from falling sharply

This method of changing the cabin filter worked perfectly on my 2004 Maxima. It was simple and saved me a lot of time.
I have a 2008 Maxima. you DO need to remove the pins below the glove box door. One on the bottom left-one on the bottom right. Remove those with the glove box door closed. Also my air flow was upward. The air intake is like a 3-4 inch opening. I noticed he (Eric) reversed the flow of air arrow when installing his filter. Also someone previously butchered the replacement job (hopefully it wasn't Eric). I believe both bottom pins were previously broken since they were missing in this video. Also no reason for a broken filter cover door(also previously butchered). And no amount of air or dirt is going to destroy the old filter the way this one was. My new filter came with 2 foam adhesive strips to fill any gaps on the side of the filter. Most air flow will take the path of least resistance and bypass the filter Eric put in due to the extremely loose fit. My filter was from Fram . I still give Eric a thumbs up because the video was clear and he spoke well and knew what he was doing. It is hard to find instructions for the 2008 Maxima cabin filter.
I have a 2007 maxima and other videos that I saw removed 2 clips from the bottom of the glove box first before removing it. Is that step necessary? Your way looked so much easier and Nissan quoted me $80 for this easy job. I’m thinking about doing it myself.

Thanks for sharing Eric! Repair shops charge absorbitant fees & markup to replace the simplest of items, especially air filters (interior or exterior), wiper blades, and blown bulbs. On some cars it's merrited b/c the manufacturer makes it SUPER COMPLEX or time consuming, but it doesn't appear so for this vehicle. Thanks to your video I now have an idea where to look and what to do. Once I purchase a new filter I'll give it a shot. Looking forward to clean/fresh cabin air again.

I have a 96 nissan maxima my battery keep draining I bought a brand new battery 2 weeks ago also bought a brand new alternator about a month ago but for some reason every 3 to 4 days my car will not start trying to figure out if anyone can help me with this problem?

The filter seems a bit long and loose on the sides. Maybe it should be turned 90 degrees?
The fact that something there was broken and the filter was damaged, says a lot about the engineering level of the car.
