How to Properly Recharge Your AC System

Recharge your AC system properly. I go though all of the steps on how to safely charge your air conditioning system with refrigerant. First you need to evacuate the system, then pull a vacuum, and then add the correct amount of refrigerant based on weight.

  1. Thank you Chris! My AC went out recently and I was able to do it my self and save some
Money. It started get warm in my area recently, so I feel relieved now.

  3. Should not start a vehicle with the a/c system under vacuum…technically. It's only a major issue on a couple models.

Those cans should only be used upside down. Slowly. It works in a pinch until you can get it professionally done. But be prepared for an enviro charge as no shop wants to contaminate their machine with the stuff in cans.(amazon and ebay cans are usually just propane for the cheap or sale ones)

  4. Wow great video. So for $200 to $300 in equipment, I can recharge my AC instead of taking it to a shop that will probablt charge less than 100. Thanks.

  5. Wow. Just great videos Chris. Thank you. I recently tried to recharge my Explorer. I pulled the vacuum and followed your directions. The vacuum may have escaped somewhat before I actually started adding refrigerant. After about 8oz going into the system, it would not accept anymore. The compressor was running. It was about 55 degrees outside. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  6. Hey Chrisfix I have a question. So I screwed up and used a can of r134a with oil that stops leaks but it says on the can it’s not meant to be used on a hybrid. So I filled my Prius with the wrong one. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks for all you do.

  7. Did you skip the oil – also clearly shown on sticker !? maybe only needed when fully evacuating the system, but should be mentioned…

  8. Sorry, but you can't legally work on refrigeration systems without being EPA certified, so this video is completely pointless and potentially dangerous. People are going to use this partial information to "top off" their refrigeration systems instead of fix leaks.

  9. Who gives you the thumbs down? Stealerships and auto repair shops wow you explain it the best 👊 no reason for even one thumbs down

  10. Hey Chris, just want to let you know theres a select amount of youtube content creators that just are just “‘mm”” so good.

Very well made, great information, forward and easy steps for all. You got it bro 😎
