This is the second test for Gumout All in One fuel cleaner to see if it actually removes carbon deposits. I use a mini borescope camera to look into the engine and see how dirty the engine is after the second fuel treatment.

CONCLUSION:
I followed the instructions on the container and Gumout fuel cleaner did a great job cleaning the shiny, sludge buildup, but did not work as well as I would have thought on the clumps of hard carbon buildup. Even after two bottles in a row, it did not clean the cylinders as much as I thought it would since they do say one bottle will clean the engine.

So how do you really clean carbon out of an engine?
It might be useful if used b4 carbon starts to buil up. Just a thought, what if you poured the cleaner into the cylinder and let it sit. Great job!!!
it seems to me that if used "as directed" every so many miles from when the vehicle was purchased, it would "maintain" a clean system. Watching both of your videos on this I can see that although it wasn't a huge change, it WAS slowly removing it. So after years of not being cleaned it seems reasonable to me that it might take a while of continued cleanings to return to that clean state. I think Gumout should work on their wording and maybe state that it may take multiple cleanings to get significant results but hey, that's "advertising" for you. . . Great videos either way. Love to see actual results with follow up!

Thank you for showing the capabilities for this product "GumOut" I've been using "Carb & Choke" to remove gummy and carbon buildup around and partly inside my car's engine. This works well. But I don't know if this will cause any problems later on. What do you know about this product?
It seems this stuff needs to be used over a long period of time , it could take a dozen bottles to make a large difference.
I think the combination chamber is going to be the toughest to clean. The injectors if you checked them I'm sure are much better. Also, you may have seen better combustion chamber results with GDI, especially if at WOT because they flood the cylinder for cooling.
I'd say gum out is to use on a new car so it's always just that gummy stuff that I'd did work on.. If you ask them they prob say it's not hard carbon remover
CEM here in australia have some products for this and it is used throughout the mining and rail industry .
What about the carbon on the valves? Was it cleaned off? I never used All IN One but I've noticed more 'get up and go' with Gumout on my old beater cars. The only thing this review does for me is not use All in One and keep using the original formula because whatever it does, it makes the engine run smoother after it's over, and improves my mileage per tank. Maybe that's just cleaner valves or something else like dissolving goo between walls and piston, but takes longer on the hardened stuff on piston surfaces, but even if I didn't know it was in the tank, the car just runs better with it on occasion than never. I think every 3000 miles is a bit much tho.

Come on Chris, this stuff is like $2 a bottle. I know what the bottle SAYS that it works in one bottle, but lets be fair man. Carbon is baked on those pistons…I think a reasonable expectation is for all the carbon to be gone after running it EVERY fillup for like 3-6 months and let is chip away little by little at the carbon.
I think you should hook up one of those smog/emission after run the engine through those fuel cleaner. before HC/O2/Nox/etc before and after should show some clean up? we can't really tell if the cleaner actually clean anything with those visual
What about the Av gas mixture?
Maybe this stuff is like brushing your teeth, it might be too late for it to take the old stuff off, but if you did it regularly from an early age it would keep the engine a lot clearer for a lot longer. I don't actually know but it's a thought, the problem with that theory is think about just how much it would cost to do this for years, and how small of am affect it would probably have on fuel economy and performance. I don't think it would be a very good investment if you need to start using it on a new car to keep it clean and use it every oil change or even every other time.

I WONDER if stop and go daily driving would be a better way to let the product breakdown the carbon deposits rather than running a straight 300 miles as you seem to have done? The frequent stopping would allow the Gumout to sit on the top of the piston and soak in longer. Doing the 300 miles all in one or two trips just burns the Gumout off before it has a chance to work. How about squirting the Gumout into each cylinder and leaving overnight? Repeat the next day before driving the vehicle. Could cylinder 5 have such a bad buildup because the sparkplug is bad or fouled?
Some of those carbon pieces are hard like diamonds and breaking them off can actually damage your cylinder walls. The only way to truly clean these is with the cylinder head removed from the engine block.
it's gonna take a while for these to work, one or two bottles isn't going to do it. Btw you DID see improvements so their claim is solidified. You didn't like the degree of improvements but there were by your own admission so claim confirmed. Any carbon removed is significant. You expected a brand new looking engine that's your problem. Stop using the word significant too since you don't know how to use it

This stuff is good, cause, when your car has 150 k miles and gets loss of power, and engine hesitation, there could be 10 things going wrong. More than likely, you only need to clean it. Ease your mind. Like the bottle says, every 3,000 miles, not a big waste of maintenance expenses.

Iv always used redex it's never done any harm I just put a bit in everytime I fill up
Thanks for these useful experiments, but what will be the effect on the catalytic converter as all that accumulated carbon have one way exit which is through the catalytic converter.
May not have clean it well, but the MPG went up!
