Pop Up Headlights Are Back & I Shaved The Antenna

In this episode Its about one step backwards and two steps forward. I remove the Evo-R headlights and reinstall the original pop up headlights. Shave the antenna, and fill holes in the hatch lid.

  1. I dont know everything about body work but what i have learned from my teacher is when applying bondo only put on as much as youd wanna take off and to hand sand on body work because power tools makes it efficient but you also run the risk of taking to much bondo off in which case will put you back at square one

  2. I don't know if Chris will see this at this point, but for anyone else that's interested, I'm a professional welder/painter. Any time you're welding thin metal and you can access the back side, use a chunk of aluminum as a backstop. You're much less likely to burn a hole through your material, it acts as a heat sink so you cab weld faster and it's less likely to warp. It will get HOT, note that if you're holding it with gloved hands. Also, when filling smaller holes like that roofing nails have a very wide head. Just push them through from the back (that way you can hold onto it with pliers, or still use the aluminum block trick), then cut off the nail when you're done. Finishing nails are great filler material when welding small gaps.

Edit: It would have been much easier to wipe the spray paint off the hoid with some MEK paint thinner.

  3. I know this is like a year old, but you can use a peice of copper to back holes your trying to weld. The copper won't stick or contaminat the weld and you'll use less material

  4. Dude, I'm not normally a safety nazi, but if you're using any sort of mechanical spinning wheel, wear glasses man. That wire brushing at 5:10.. ever had one of those wires come flying off? It'll stick right into your skin like a dart. Imagine that being your iris. Same thing with cutting discs.

There is no going back. You only get one pair of eyes.

p.s. Love the videos. Keep up the content.

  5. You can all talk about how the pop up headlights look but fucking live with them for a minute!! There is a reason cars don't have them anymore….it's because they are terrible and almost never work right. My personal opinion is fuck em but then again i also wasn't digging the look of the other ones either. I really like the partially popped, small lights under stock flaps look myself.

  6. Zero cars have flip up headlights any more, they were banned by the NHTSA or IIHS or whatever because of pedestrian impact risks

  7. So do you place the antenna elsewhere after shaving it? or just lose the function of radio altogether? Or is it just obsolete? Much confuse, such wow.

  8. eh oh well man…. even though you wasted the time to switch them…. at least you were able to get in there and clean it up a bit and make it look a lot better…. the flip ups are sweet lol

  9. I got a first gen RX7 and people find it cool, but when your driving on the road the aerodynamic is disturbed a lot, if i could find the lights That are on the RE-super g but then for the first gen i probably buy them.
