To say I love my new vice would be something of an understatement. I freaking love my new vice. My old vice was getting pretty worn. When I used it to do the pipes for my air system it was very evident. So when I went looking for a new vice I stumbled on this unique design from Wilton. It’s reversible so you can have an extra wide opening if you need it. Honestly, I just like the extra anvil on top. I’ve found it to be very functional.
I’ve worked with a few vices over the years and I can honestly say this is a quality vice that I believe I’ll be using for years to come.

There is an upgrade to the pipe jaws on the Yost 855-D2 version. (The pipe vise jaws on the Yost vise are milled & replacable.)

ok when you thread pipe you are supposed to use those jaws below the main jaws they havea sort of vee for grabbing round stock that tends to spin while you are working . They are pipe jaws .

As I see how nice your shop is, I'm wondering why you cheaped out with a Chinese made vise. Yes,that model Wilton is Chinese. A person needs to upgrade to a USA made Tradesman Wilton vise as a minimum. Or if you can't afford a new Tradesman Wilton vise, find a good USA made used vise. I know you're stoked on your new vise but honesty it's a turd. You probably have thousands of dollars in name brand USA made sockets and wrenches but yet you buy a $10 Chicom vise. SMH.

How does the Wilton 4600 vise compare to the Yost 750-DI vise? They are with $10 of each other
Hi, I know you posted this video a year (or more, heh) ago, but I wanted to know if you still felt that this vise was a good value for the money, and I wasn't sure where else to ask. I'm asking because I just (yesterday) managed to snap the moving jaw off my old buffalo brand vise, and I need a new, preferably stronger, vise as soon as I can get it; I'd been looking at this vise and stumbled upon your video in the course of researching it, so I figured I'd ask how your opinion of the vise had changed after a year of using it. Sorry for the long comment, especially on such an old video!
Simply , you should not be allowed to use a vice . Ill pay the shipping on your old one before you grind the ears off of it . Look under the top ears and you will find Knuckles for holding pipe in place . Thanks

brockhorst/heuer I find the best, loosens directly and no pipe clamps cos stands in the way bending small pieces, use RIDGID pipe clamps and for small indication for quality, clearence top bottom must be big, check cheap prc vices , you will know what I mean, goedendag

The Columbians are made by Wilton, or at least they are now. I've got a big old 6" Columbian that has to be 50 years old, she needs new jaws but it's been a tank for as long as I can remember

I'm glad you like your 4600, Eric. If you really want a nice vise though, keep your eyes peeled on craigslist for an old Wilton C3. You'll probably spend even more on a used C3 than you did on your new 4600, but it's a Ford Excursion compared to an Escape.
A new C3 runs around $1500.
