2JZ BRZ Pt 13 – WHEELS ARE SPINNIN!! DIY Driveshaft Mods

In this episode I realize that my stock driveshaft is too long! ( not too short ) so instead of building an adapter, I decided to cut the BRZ driveshaft and modify it to mate up with the 2JZ transmission.

  1. Obviously watching this way after…but holy shit. IF I saw that video and he ask me to go for a ride, hard PASS! Only saving grace is that he half welded it at the trans flange. It will separate there and shoot the whole pile of shit through the rear hatch.

  2. Wow 1800 rpm eh?? How about 5000-6000rpm. Can you say bomb. Please leave a camera down there so we can all see it explode. Please! Please! Get that balanced.

  3. Driveshaft needs a slip joint, that was the original part that you removed from the drive shaft that mated to the gearbox.

  4. How did I never realize you were from Portland? That's where I'm from. Just moved about 40 miles up the gorge to Cape Horn Washington.

  5. Hello and greetings from SoCal! My name is Christian and I’ve been following your channel since your first brz build in your back yard! I love your content and you’ve inspired me to start my own build and channel. I am currently building a 240sx with a 2jz swap. I’m contacting you to see if you are interested in possibly assisting me with pointers and tips on YouTube and the 2jz build it’s self. If you have any parts for the 2jz that you’re willing to sell please let me know ! I would love to hear what knowledge you can drop based on your 2jz swap . I look forward to hearing back from you!

  6. Just watched episode 13 and this is horrendous! The whole front prop shaft is a complete bodge. It has to be balanced, but the starting point is not what you have now. Why on earth cut the UJ off the tube? It's very simple to cut the tube, shorten and re-weld it.Unless I have missed it, there is no sliding section, so the engine is bolted rigidly to the rear axle, even though it can move longitudinally on its mounts slightly, as can the rear diff assembly. Should there be a sliding section somewhere?I have watched the M5 and Aston Martin all the way through, and there are some cringe moments, but somehow they work, and in parts very well indeed. This one does not.

  7. Sell that sucker on completion as that vibration will thrash out your transmission bearings in no time then your saving will, be way gone

  8. I'm going to the British Grand Prix at the end of July if you could get a banner over to me I'll be happy to fly it for you to promote your channel let me know if your interested.

  9. Normally you're level of sketch is still above haggard garage but this shit is just dangerous. This is one of a rather small number of things that should be left for professionals.

  10. This would have worked had you used a dial indicator to get the drive shaft sections centered. Watch Jonathan Wards video on making a drive shaft for his tow truck to see how it can be done at home in a successful way.

  11. Do NOT drive that on the road! That is very unsafe and you are risking your car and probably your health. Please, I implore you to get a properly made driveshaft. Check driveshaft shop or Texas drive shaft specialists. I'm having an aluminum 3.5" shaft with 1350 joints and a billet yoke made for <$600. A steel 3" shaft with a normal yoke is in the <$400 range. HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO THIS ONE. Please….

  12. Everyone is talking about vibrations but no one is talking about slip if you have no slip you will bust the trans. the brz slipped in the tail housing the 2jz uses a slip inside the driveshaft

  13. I don't want to be a dick, but that driveshaft is a bad idea. The original setup had a rubber puck to mate to the driveshaft, like BMW does, and now you don't have that, and you have a wobbly death bar spinning around. You're going to, at the very least, hurt your transmission, and at the worst, the driveshaft is going to fail catastrophically. You need to get that driveshaft done professionally, in my opinion. The reason you didn't feel vibration through the car was because you don't even have the transmission mounted to the body. If you're going to do it, do it right please.

  14. Please Chris I hope the sheer number of comments highlights how dangerous this really is! If this fails, you or others will be seriously injured if not killed.
