  1. If you kept that on there, it would of broken off at one of the welds and your engine would be slinging the drive shaft like nunchucks really bad and really fast

  2. Glad you got personalized plates. Next plate should be BIS4BLD or BIS4BD1 2 3 4 5 etc. Maybe use the one space you get after the first "B" letter. I run personalized plates for all my cars and I love coming up with configurations. Would be dope if all your cars got one 😉 like Tony Stark in Iron Man having all his sick cars say Stark 1 2 3 4 5 etc.

  3. LOL – does a crazy dangerous thing, "Im changing it cause it wont work, not cause of the make-believe danger." wow, ok. I've been a big fan of your builds, and I like that you admit when things don't go well but your sorry, not sorry speech here really rubbed me the wrong way. You've taken a lot of advise from your viewers, some of which do this as certified professionals, so the attitude about something serious like this is a bit of a slap in the face. I'm gonna keep watching your videos (and watching full length ads- This MB ad playing right now is 5 minutes long) but keeping the fans happy isnt just cranking out videos, its also showing a little respect even when you dont want to.

  4. Woah woah woah. Hold up…. Correct me if I'm wrong on this but working as a mechanic this has a me a bit off. Ik what people are saying. But. That two piece shaft eliminates the need for that longer shorter Shaft talk. The part that bolts in holds that shorter Shafter into the transmission, while the second half does all that actual movement. The Shaft won't extend or shrink with that set up as the shaft itself is BOLTED into a FIXED location. That is just an easier and new method of holding a drive shaft into the transmission for assembly and disassembly. The one he built mechanically to me would of been fine. So someone explain to me why it wouldn't work as to me, an engineering major and mechanic, am wondering why he would need to redo it if that set up he made would actually work just fine, for a diy build that is.

  5. its in with a 2jz ; so that bs about your suspension up or down does not apply; that shaft needs to be straight full stop ; on the floor or not i can bet you it will not change position … its a japanese car ; not a craptastic us chassis that flexes..

its got a 2JZ that uses a soft rubber insert in the transmission ; that is the 'fuse' ; just like bmw and many other brands.

your shaft could work if you cut off a front part from a 2J or other compatible lug patern. the best thing should be to cut it in the middle and removed the center tube ; used a smaller diameter tube and use that to weld the 2 halth together 😉 ( thats how i do it for S50 / S54 6spd E30 swaps and get it checked and balanced at a local truck shop. )

good luck with the build ; its going to be a blast to play with 😉

  6. but the diff and trans technically arent connected and shouldnt have to do with suspension right? i mean its not a solid rear axle where the diff moves up down back and forth. its a legit question, just wondering.

  7. chris you should take a break! are you serious ??? you got three of those cars and think the driveshaft lenght changes as the suspension travels Oo

  8. Hey Chris glad you went the proper way with the driveshaft, shame to ruin whats a good build in what could have been may be possibly a catastrophic way. Watched your vid and heard you needed an Evora Airbag etc. I'm in UK but check out uk ebay
item # 262861790514 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lotus-Evora-2010-Onwards-Airbag-Kit-Driver-Passenger-Seat-belts-/262861790514?hash=item3d33c89d32:g:fkAAAOSw32lYqsny). That shit aint cheap but its Lotus and British, what you gonna do. Not sure if it helps. But hey. Keep up the good work dude. Maybe think of a trip across to the UK – B is for Britain?

  9. That 3 y will need a rubber vibration damper to go between the 3 y and new propshaft that 3 y ain't got a thrust washer behind it for preload has it.

  10. Even Roadkill guys are afraid of breaking driveshafts, your transmission/driveshaft tunnel is not going to stop if from coming into the car and injuring your legs. You are thinking of "Oh, if it brakes ill just apply brakes and stop" but it's not like that there is a lot of drag/racing drivers that lost their legs even got paralyzed. Please don't do stuff that would hurt you and others around you in the sake of saving money. We atleast I love this show and it would suck to see you get hurt! Keep the videos coming.

  11. To those saying that it is independent rear and so does not need a slip yoke, have you thought about heat expansion and chassis flexing? There is a reason the original shaft had a slip joint.
Best practice is always to recreate as close to factory as possible, they have put in far more engineering and planning than a backyard mechanic could ever hope to learn.

  12. if your driveshaft snapped it would basically be like losing throttle. Not really as dangerous as driving around with a shot ball joint lol

  13. ik this might be irrelevant to u, but is this a new camera?? What camera do you use? the depth of field looks so good at around 8 minutes in
