Thanks to J&B Tool sales fro providing this tool for review.

I was much happier with this inspection camera than I was with the one from General. Sure, it has less features, but I feel the picture quality is much better than the other tool. Also, the price is about $100 less. I know I said it was about half the price in the video, but I misspoke when I said that. I’m going to keep this one and use it in future videos. I hope it adds a new level to the show and saves time.

**As a side note, this is the first video on EricTheCarGuy to feature my new camera. It also features my new editing software. So if you’re wondering where things ‘changed’ on ETCG, it started with this video.

  1. You have been a great teacher over the years , I work on trucks/prime movers . Whole different ball game at times…. but it’s easy to understand you which is what I love

  2. Wow thanks for the comments, the ebay ones work great and many of them are wifi to use with cell phone screens/capture etc.
Not Eric's fault but this AcDelco cam is way too clunky and expensive for limited use applications. The 10-20$ ebay cameras work great so far.

  3. Someone needs to create a USB version of this to be used with laptops and netbooks.  Attach a 5-15 foot male usb cable to an HD camera from an old cell-phone or webcam (assuming the size is small enough), maybe even add a single LED (brighter than this one).  The software would be a breeze to create and voila, $25-$200 inspection camera (depending on available materials) that is better in every way imaginable.

If they can fit a quad-core processor, 2GB of ram, 64GB storage space, a 14+ Megapixel video camera, a super-capacity battery, networking hardware, and other stuff into a tiny smart-phone… then wtf?  I want a an inspection camera that will give me a reach-around for that kind of cash.

  4. holly buckets 240 dollars…. i am thinking  to buy a USB borescope inspection camera for 20 bucks and use it with my laptop, i just can justify 240 dollars for something that i wouldnt use that much.

  5. much better price to, good wire inlet and outlet connections. is there display picture changes like contrast and darkness?

  6. Cool I want one of these.

The tool that puts everything to bed when someone is arguing that they don't have something like a cracked piston.

Makes life easier diagnosing problems and seeing where there may be an area that may need some attention as far as cleaning.

    Cool little toy.

  7. Hey Eric, according to the box it'll flip the image over for you if the camera twists upside down to help keep your bearings. I have experienced that first hand and it's a nice feature you didn't touch on. Thanks for the review though. Makes me happy I only spent $13 for mine!

  8. I bet a Pro one of these would kick ass !  Still grainy even though the other one is claimed to be not as good.  Reminds me of the crappy resolution of x-ray images that will likely take experience or even lessons on how to interpret the fuzz.

  9. ******You should do a before and after shot of behind valves and the top of pistons of using an engine treatment such as seafoam, Lucas or tap water, transmission fluid ect.*********

  10. It is funny how the view through a tiny camera can make a familiar environment seem alien. Reminds me of the early videos from the shipwreck exploring ROVs…

  11. "class 4" memory card ftw bro lol….

4GB is actually in reference to storage capacity bro… hate being the smart ass correction guy.

  12. Is it just me or did anyone else imagine this particular video from the angle of EricTheProctologist? Just imagine if Eric chose a different path in life… Oh the videos he would make.

  13. Unfortunately alot of the stuff he buys or gets for free is garbage. Spend the money and get a real tool. I know there expensive because i work for a dealer. But cheap stuff will give you cheap results. Other then that great channel and info as usual.

  14. I think all those cameras have flaws .A deal breaker for me gotta be the battery issue . this should be rechargeable.  I think if we really want power & clarity,we need  a surgical camera that sees inside people's bodies such as  laparoscopic camera. I think those are the best of technology we need medical grade but those are very expensive…
