A special release video for you from my trip to SEMA 2014.

It’s one thing to get to see a Porsche 918 in person, it’s quite another to get to meet the owners. I owe a special thanks to Elizabeth White and Andrew Zalasin for giving me their time at SEMA 2014. For those of you not in the know the Porsche 918 is one of the vanguards of the next generation of super cars. It’s a hybrid that in many ways outperforms it’s predecessors. At this time there are only about 40 of these on the planet so you are very fortunate if you actually get to lay eyes on one. BTW the price tag is around 1.2million. This one has a sport package that has extra carbon fiber and no AC. Yes that’s right kids, 1.2Million and no AC! Only the hard core may enter.

  5. I'm glad these people drive the shit out of that car. People are too scared to drive their nicer, sportier cars. There's a dude in my neighborhood who refuses to drive his circa 2010 Corvette around. It goes in and out of his garage during the summer. That is such a shame.

  6. Porsche is the real thing but you have Rolls Royce buyers looking down on them. The car world is rife with this type of snobbishness. What can be said about these people is that they have very good taste in cars.

  8. Andrew needs to give the viewers some drive alongs 😀 Amazing car, even in spite of not being a huge fan of Porsche myself, the engineering that went into this vehicle is awe inspiring.

  9. Screw the 918 and the whole Porsche lot. The design is… horrible.

    McLaren P1 and LaFerrari all the way. Better than 918, no arguments.

  10. Why is everyone passing their two cents on these peoples'  potential moral ambiguity or solidarity? It's like everyone feels like they are the end all be all of what is right and wrong in the world… Yeah, rich people are pompous, but poor people are bitter. Being poor myself, I'd rather be anything than unhappy about other peoples' success and bitter because I don't have and never will have all the toys they do. xD
     
    This vid is about the car, not socioeconomic morality y'all.

  17. At least they got it on the Ring.  Not so much at home in NYC.  I can fully empathize with a car that attracts way too much attention.  I have a Lotus that's my track toy and on the street I hate how much attention it grabs.  Fun to have a toy just for driving though!

    I don't think the comments about Zalasin in a negative light are hard.  He is the CFO or a company specializing in Mergers.  Dumb people don't get where he got.  Just hard working people that made the right decisions.

  19. Omg lol pathetic douches reminds me of every porche driver. They feel smug till they are on the side of road bent round a pole cuz it spun out, on fire or just has the common case of porche breakdown.

  24. Don't get me wrong I usually like people buying cool cars but looks like they bought it just for attention -_- why would u drive this beast trough NY traffic?!
    At least he gave the right answer at the end saying that it should be driven 🙂

  30. Eric, what are your thoughts on owning an RX-7 as a secondary vehicle – aka a toy. I've wanted something to play with for a while. I narrowed it down to a 1995 RX-7 and a 2011 WRX STI. the RX-7 has lower miles and both cars have detailed service records. 

  35. Eric I need help. If you are familiar with honda motor swaps or can point me in the direction of someone who does it would be wonderful. I have an h22a in a 91 honda accord and I'm getting a no crank no start issue with no spark to the distributor. I have watched tons of your videos and haven't found one that addresses a situation like mine. Let me know if you can help I know your time is precious so thank you in advance.
