I’ve been using magnetic trays for some time and have found them to be very useful tools. Grip has put a new twist on the magnetic tray to make them even more useful. Personally, I like the lighted tray the most. Mostly because it serves 2 purposes. One is holding your tools and parts, the other is helping to light your work area. That said, I’m going to have to see how the LED’s hold up over time. The other tools are also quite useful and I’ll be using them more in future projects.

great info. thank you!
I have a mechanics time saver magnetic socket holder. I was working under my Dad’s pickup, stuck the holder to the bottom of the frame. Finished my work but left my socket holder stuck to the bottom of the truck. He went out to check pivots. I figured the holder would still be there when he got back but it would be empty. Nope. All the sockets were in it!
Interesting, If you use wd-40 and sometimes a little patience the label will come off 100 percent.
Trypophobia intensifies
Lighter fluid for sticker removal**
Back-lit rusty nuts. Awesome 👍 😂😁
Thanks Mr. Thecarguy, as always your video was informative, and also as always helpful for ideas, you are certainly appreciated by the average diy know a little and slightly mechanically inclined novice, your mechanic tutorials are confidence and knowledge building, a person such as yourself makes a huge difference in people's lives.
I have the same trouble removing adhesive labels; they never come off cleanly. What I discovered is that a heat gun/blow dryer is great for loosening the label. Pre-heat the label at one end, grab a corner and s-l-o-w-l-y pull it up. Keep heating and pulling the label upward under constant pressure, and it will usually release fully. If it doesn't, go back over it a few more times until you've removed the rest of it. For a label that leaves residue behind on metal or plastic, I've found that a few drops of vegetable oil rubbed on it with a napkin or paper towel will usually remove it. Owing to their shorter height, these round socket trays will hold shallow or semi-deep sockets more securely. I use rectangular-shaped Mechanic's Time Savers (MTS) which, depending on design, can hold shallow, deep-well or both styles on one tray. Based on the openings, the red tray will hold larger 1/2"- and 3/8"-drive sockets; the green will hold smaller 1/2"-drive and 3/8"-drive sockets; and the yellow is for smaller 3/8"-drive and 1/4"-drive sockets.
The shipping cost of a set of 3 is lower than the shipping cost of any one of the 3 socket trays. It's a cheezy company that hides the true cost of a product by making it up by burying it in the shipping cost.
How about those magnetic socket trays that are rectangular and numbered?
Im slowly switching from rails to those magnetic ones. Much easier and they dont clatter.
lighter fluid works great for removing stickers like those – or you can put it in your parts washer
Ooooh, Shiny! LOL
Nope.
The round socket holders look like they suck for what they are meant for… that being said they look like they would be great for sorting fasteners into when doing a larger job.
It seemed to me like you were giving a positive review because you had to – really, the magnetic socket tray let the sockets wobble all over and you then go about making an excuse that "you don't want the magnet too strong…."
I like coffee. Whenever I finish with a Folgers plastic coffee container, I take it to the basement and saw the bottom off & throw it in a drawer used for the purpose. It doesn't have a magnet but it does have something else: free-ness.
big cojones
I'm from grand rapids and tons of mechanics use the grip products. it rooting for the home team so to speak
I'd think twice about magnetising your tools. Steel shavings are a pain.
spray some wd40 on that sticker and it will come right off and the residue as well…with minimal elbow grease….
I don't have those socket trays but they look like impractical to carry around because there's no leverage for our hand. I have to agree the magnetic trays are so useful that you can not get enough of!
hey eric just put the round ones inside the long tray and you got the best of both
Price of nut tray doubles with s/h
Those socket holders.are.a waste of space
I like how you find something negative about the tools, but are not like "This is shit, not worth it" and stuff…
…you rather see reason in not so bright facts of the tools and you explain them.
Has he ever said something bad in a 'review'?
'
what country make this tools tray
@EricTheCarGuy WD40 is great for getting off sticky label residue ;D
What are the socket trays you have in the drawers? Like at 2:41?
Good review.
not a big fan of the socket holders honestly, i would rather have the rail type with the twist lock but please keep up the reviews Eric. Cheers
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Cn't you get a tripod so that the camera doesn't shake around so much
A product not far from home
The lighted one is nice but, I would like the lights recessed or hooded so they dont hit my eyes. Light what I am looking for, don't light my eyes. but I would buy that for a dollar and modify the thing to stop the glare.
"Just a massive place to hold your nuts. It's even nut shaped!" LOL LOL LOL LOL
The nut shaped nut tray is probably my favorite out of all of these.
I would serve drinks from that led tray!
