Rebuilding Honda power steering pumps isn’t that difficult but it comes with a warning, it might not work out. I had a heck of a time with this one. In the end the fix was to just replace it. You might consider that option if you have a noisy pump. However, the rebuild kit is very affordable and if you have the time and inclination, I think it’s worth a shot.
This video features my 2001 Honda Odyssey but this same pump was used on a variety of Honda and Acura vehicles from 1998-2002. In fact I think there are only a few differences between this pump and the generation before it.
Lastly I’ll say that I strongly recommend you only use Honda fluid. Use of other fluids can cause issues.

Could cover dip tube with a large vacuum cap maybe?
Its a 6209 LU bearing. My civic has a 6203 LU, cheap enough

Thank you for posting this. Just as your brake caliper rebuild showed me that I DID want to rebuild my own calipers instead of buying remanufactured ones, this video showed me that I do NOT want to rebuild my power steering pump!

Possibly the shaft bearing making that noise? It sounds like it's cavitating but not foaming up in the reservoir. I'd love to have seen this done with the shaft bearing to see if it cleared up the noise. The bearing sells for about $10 at NAPA.
Please help, would you advise me if I should buy a Cardone Remanufactured Power Steering Pump w/o Reservoir? I need one for my 2009 Accord! Should I buy it?

As always thanks Eric. We both have 2004 Elements so that is a huge plus. That being said, what this video convinced me of… is that I wont be rebuilding my power steering pump. I know when to say uncle. Now off to find a replacement pump. Anyone have a good recommendation….?

Now imagine this is a fluid pump in transmission. There is no visual clue you can tell if the pump is bad or not. I end up putting on and off my transmission pump 4 times! In the end, I just replaced transmission pump and then the noise goes away.

There was a TSB for later model oyssey's (2006+up?) that the reservoir had a possible air entry point.
On other vehicles of mine, it was the suction side hose causing the same symptoms as your faulty pump. Over time the rubber hose get hard and actually cracks from the INSIDE-OUT! So no amount of hose clamp pressure will stop air entry.

Your O ring was Upside down.. make the machine dot face down, not up..
