EricTheCarGuy Answers Questions Live #29 10/22/2014

The next live hang out is scheduled for November 19, 2014 at 7pm EST. This will be my last live Google+ show so don’t miss it!
Check my Google+ page for details: https://plus.google.com/b/100195180196698058780/100195180196698058780/posts

In this program we talked about this being my second to last show for starters. Some of you may be sad about this but don’t fret, I’ll be doing pretty much the same show in podcast form that will come out every Monday. Those shows will also be 1 hour long instead of just a half hour. Hoping it works out.

That said, in this program we talked about washing your engine, loss of power, front wheel drive cars, anti theft systems, noises when turning in reverse, oil in your coolant, shift interlock systems, brake light switches, removing stuck wheels, throttle cable adjustments, vehicle stalling, and exhaust restrictions.

If I didn’t get to your question I apologize. Questions posted after the event ends will not be answered. Questions posted to the YouTube video will not be answered. Next show is October 22, 2014 7pm EST though, or visit EricTheCarGuy.com.

  1. Eric, great vids, good info. I've always enjoyed watching them your channel and sometimes just watch it when I'm bored. Keep up the great work and keep them coming. Only question is where do you pull the questions from? I've got one I've been bouncing off all my mechanic buddy's and we all haven't been able to come up with a solutions. I'd like your opinion.

  2. 7:40 easy way to tell is how your engine is pointed. For example my moms 05 Nissan Sentra has a Straight 4 The exhaust manifold is forward therefore its a FWD. My dads 05 Ford Expedition has a V8 pointed to the side therefore its a RWD.

  3. I have an 06 ford fusion i am going to change the rear shocks,I noticed it's not like the older cars.Where the top bolt is there is a bracket with 3 bolts in it,does that bracket have to come off to get at the upper bolt

  4. Thanks for moving to a podcast. I do not watch the video anyhow. Making it portable is great. More commuting fodder. 🙂

  5. Hi eric, i have a bmw 328i 1997, with problems of all 4 windows not going down, even the sun roof. For the past months ive been having this problems, i went to a mechanic, he checked all my fuses and they were good, and told me to change the general module IV under the glovebox, so when i change the module with same part number, it not working at all. Another electrician told me that it might not ne the module that controls the windows, but power source. I dont know what to do? Any body there in youtube, read this. Pls. Help. Thanks

  6. hey eric, for your next video do you think you can do a "how to replace a head cylinder and head gasket on a honda 3rd gen like through the 90's " ?  .-. cause i recently bought a 1991 honda prelude 2.0 Si with a b21a1 engine but my head gasket is blown and i already bought a new gasket and a new cylinder head i just need to replace it please help

  7. Yea, cleaning the engine bay with water under high pressure is not such a good thing despite it being cathartic.  I just use a spray bottle and a rag.

  8. 24:00 Then again some shops don't replace the valve seals on the engine head, even if they are in need of it, just to make the job cheaper for the client (and for them aswell).

  9. Eric you have helped me a lot in knowledge of the cars. Wherever your journey takes you good luck. I still refer to your videos when they are available to assist me in mechanics. I have only been doing mechanics for 2 years and your videos got me interested in to it. I have made much extra needed cash on the side doing side jobs on people's cars where I work. I charge them a tenth of what shops cost and I was able to get the knowledge through your videos. I appreciate the help!

  10. Brake interlock switch on the shifter can easily be overridden by turning the key to the first unlock detent (no dash lights will illuminate) and then moving the shifter to neutral.  Now you can start the car and drive it.

  11. To the Volvo S40 guy with oil in the coolant if you have a turbo model what you have described sounds like a shot turbo with oil in coolant and blue smoke. Gonna have to have the turbo rebuilt or replaced.
