2JZ BRZ Pt 2 – What Still Works?

In this episode I figure out what still works on the BRZ and what I need to figure out how to make work. Next I start attaching the engine mounting brackets to the 2JZ and start moving it in place to mount it in the BRZ.

  1. for AC and Heater you just need to keep the compressor, evaporator and Heater core, evaporator can go in front of the radiator, heater core most of the time goes under the dash in the firewall and the compressor goes to the engine, use the stock compressor of the 2jz and hook the brz lines, thats it i guess

  2. I looked into putting a Electric power steering in my 66 Mustang and found a guy in Iceland that makes a stand alone controller to use on a Saturn Vue EPAS system. I did a quick search on eBay and found one for a toyota. Might work or at least start you on the right path to find a standalone controller. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Prius-04-09-Electric-Power-Steering-Column-Controller-Unit-kit-EPAS-/262400460977?hash=item3d184948b1:g:qVwAAOSw3mpXGlSA&vxp=mtr

  3. is it possible to keep things like air conditioning when doing a swap? or is he just ditching them to cut cost down?

  4. have you looked at pure automotive's plug and play kit for thease cars everything works like factory and it mite make the job a bit less of a headache like the mustang. love the show by the way

  5. Hi, I'm putting power steering in old hot rods of mine, I used to work in a classic rally garage and they use the electric power steering from a Corsa. I also use this set up. I can make a unit that will sit into your existing steering setup by cutting and welding it it…. Then you will only need a live and Earth wire and it should work perfectly for what you need.

  6. Chris I really enjoy your channel. It propably is my favorite channel. I always make sure to click on the ads just to make my own part for you to be able to continue making these videos. Keep up the good work!

  7. if the power steering is anything similar to the mr2 electric steering because it's such a high draw in power the ecu won't activate untill the engine is started. possibly because it requires in excess of 12v. some of us in the UK have the power steering on a switch. it may be possible to give it its own power feed?

  8. I don't understand why you're losing the heater doesn't have a heater core have an inlet and outlet there's no reason you can't hook the 2JZ up heater core in the not let up to it and retain the heater where in the Pacific Northwest man we have to have a heater to have defrost in the windshield when it rains that's when you want to be drifting anyways Lol

  9. LOL "the motor will probably have to come in and out 5, 6, 7 times…" you mean…the motor will have to come in and out 567 times. HAHA

  10. love this channel. how does he not have more subs than some of the other dudes out there. this is much more entertaining than watching a 350z get wrapped in highlighter yellow ..

  11. What i don't get, (please explain it to me):

Why do a budget build on a 2JZ? why not tear everything out of the engine bay, put in the 2JZ, twin turbo it (like you did with the mustang, but actually make it work 😉 ) and make a show/track car?

  12. for an alternator you really only need 2 wires, one big going to the battery + and one small wire for the D+, the D+ goes from ignition + to the battery light in the instrument then out to the D+ on the alternator which then grounds it trough the engine, when you start the engine the alternator puts positive current on the D+ thereby eliminating the ground and the light shuts off, that is litterally all that is needed for an alternator 🙂
