  2. Given the cost of some of these parts and knowing what they will likely cost in common mass production numbers – oh dear, screw chemical eng headaches and pump out such car spares…. worries about bushings, just press some new in then, eh?

  3. You need to check out Corvette recyclers in Morgan UT801-923-8829. He has a lot of take off parts ,has help me out a lot

  4. Third party parts = Chinese cheap parts! If you have a performance sports car( corvette, Porsche, etc) and you have to revert to Chinese parts, you might realize you can’t afford that car! A 65 dollar oil cooler verses an OEM $500 dollar oil cooler specifically for a corvette, there is a reason for that. An oil cooler has to operate at engine pressure at high temperature, I would not want to put a generic Chinese oil cooler not spec’d for this vehicle. It always a joke to see guys like this buying cars they can’t afford new, so they buy them salvage and then fix then with junk parts, and then want to flip them for a price of a comparable vehicle with only oem parts. What a joke

  7. Hey Samcrac, I’ve been enjoying your videos and the various projects that you have. It seems that you have saved a ton of money buying and repairing these salvage cars. Why not invest in a two post lift? It looks like you have enough space in your garage/workspace for one. Keep up the great work!

  8. cool video i had almost the same experience with a salvaged 2008 4lt paid 125000 and 35000 miles changed dr side control arms upper and lower fender well fender radiator and nose peice ect 20000 total any way i did the lense trans plant gingerly and ended up with alot of hair line lesions see if you can get a pair already white and sell the blue ones that is the only regret ive had good luck either way

  9. Absolutely right about NOT using 3rd party used axle's and drive shafts. Rockauto gets you new parts and you are dealing with a company with stellar customer service if anything goes wrong or you need certain help.

  10. $18k for a $30k car that's ready to go? No brainer too me. i would not have even bothered with this rebuild. There has to be a value put on your time if you plan on selling it. Sounds like this is not just a hobby.

  11. I can't understand why there isn't more business in this. I have a honda accord 2001, with a rebuilt title, works freakin beautiful. Cost like 10k when I got it like 10-12 years ago. Salvage vehicles, if rebuilt correctly, can last as long if not longer than if you bought it new. Please keep doing this, please keep showing people how to do this. I'd gladly buy from you if I could.

  13. need upgrade c6,aloyradiator,racecoilvers,,,,stockradiator runs hot in warmclimate,and leafsprings shocksusension is crap,,,esp..after damage its unsafe…..get a rebuiltitle you can expect 5k profit….

  14. What a waste of time, you never gonna get your money back if some day you plan to sell that trash, I'll be excited if you were working on a classic corvette, you have the money to spend it all on parts so I'm sure you be better buying a new one

  15. I am a "backyard" wrench myself, so I know first hand that this process takes time. Keep up the clear-eyed portrayal of these type of projects. Nothing good comes from half-assed repairs. Your approach of sensible costs and realistic repairs is a fresh breath of air for the auto based net.

  16. Ok, maybe I miss herd ya, you said roughly 16,000 in and you expect 18,000 out the door. So you did all that work for a meager 2,000 in possible profit. Hope you enjoyed it.

  17. It's looking like your going to be in this Vette right. One question, do you think there will be any issues with the aftermarket oil cooler? That is one hell of a difference in price compared to the OEM oil cooler.

  18. Geez…. That's about $50,000 worth of time and (pro-rated for aggravation hassle multiplier) to save about fifteen grand off the price of a whole, already-working used car.

  19. Nice video, FYI I have a C5 I do all my own work also. Luckily I work about 15 minutes from a corvette salvage yard. If u haven’t heard of them, they are called Contemporary Corvette in Bristol PA, they ship parts too. Maybe they can help u out if u ever need parts. I don’t work for them or have any affiliation with them other than I’m just a customer. I just like to help people out and save them money when possible.

  20. Do you only shop at Coparts? or do you use other auctions? what are good auctions to go to? Seems like some I look at online are sketchy….
