  1. Dude! I wanted to buy a Lotus in South Africa; the dealer had one on the floor with 300km (190 odd miles) on and it had a damaged panel for the airbag. They admitted to me that it had been like that for over a year… Amazing that they still sell cars…

  2. i know this is over 2 years ago, but pls cover your dash and console next time, all the dust in the electronics is no good , for the rest, respect for doing this . big thumbs up for you

  3. I've seen glass guys cut glass for old classic cars and chops, you can get the glass for that car hand made. I'm sure its not cheap but it can be done.

  4. While this build project is superb, I think the roof and front end situation is a very good reason not to buy a car from Lotus. Imagine this sitting at a collision centre for… ever.

  5. What i find complete bullshit is that lotus are allowed to not have these panels in stock, let alone with any delivery date.

IIRC, this is illegal in australia for a car that can still be in warranty (which this would be).

  6. just go to a fabricator and have the person fabricate new panels and a roof out of aluminum

  7. In the Army we say Beyond Economical Repair, They compare the price of a new one and the Estimated Price to repair it including parts and labour, So as you are looking to rebuild yourself you don't incur the labour

  8. Subscribed!

    If you fail, you'll have a nice go-kart ;)…

I've been seeking restore/rebuild projects on Youtube, but it doesn't seem to surface these types of videos very well… Probably the reason why there are only 100k subscribers.

  9. Another idea which lotus build a prototype of is to put the pieces of roof roughly back together and have a plexiglass roof made since it's not structural part..

  10. Good news I know a guy here in Denver that has a Evora! The bad news this guy is one of those guys that has so much money he doesn't give a shit about the car you know the type drives a super car in a snow storm….

  11. Good luck mate, you should have done your research before taking on this project. I've been waiting over a month for my evora engine mounts so nevermind a roof! The whole car is glued together and constructed with unconventional techniques and wasn't designed to be repaired.

  12. "I'm desperate, I need a roof. II'll tattoo their logo on my ass, but I'm not going to pay 4.5K for a carbon fiber roof". Best part of the video, bar none.
