Flux core… ewwwwwww. Tig tacking is as simple as holding the torch on the spot you want to tack weld… and thats it. almost no skill required.

Chris , try some anti spatter spray when you want to avoid getting spatter on surrounding metal.
you might even be able to get Dielectric grease in there
