16. I was watching a lot of videos of how houses are built in TX and I can't understand how wrong everything is put together. Understandably you don't really need to insulate your pipes for a freeze that comes maybe once in a lifetime but heck, at least use some quality pipes and fittings, properly insulate walls, don't just build them out of cardboard (drywall for all of you folks). Where I live, we are used with -10, -15 degrees C and our houses are built out of bricks, pipes are buried below the freezing point of the ground, we have insulation in and outside of the walls.

Where I'm from its snows and ices up every year through the winter for 8 months that's why we have pipes that are insulated in Buried two foot in the ground any water lines in the house or insulated we have four wheel drives food in the pantry and plenty stacked dry wood for our wood shed stove for 8 months of winter

23. Keep your water running. Just keep running it randomly for no reason otherwise your pipes freezing becomes more likely. Running water can't freeze.
