1. 3:48 That "probably important" part is a tiny heat shield for the lower ball joint rubber boot. It protects it from the heat of the brake and extends its lifespan.

6. Insane repair. I just scheduled a shop to repair my car for the first time. DAMN! It's gonna be an even $1100.00 and looks well worth it. FORD OEM parts are supposed to have proper clearance and quality, FYI: Part Number: Ford Part No.:YS4Z-7L596-DA

    I have two "FORD DNW FOCUS", one from 1999 the other from 2002. Can I take the clutch from one and put in the other? Are they similar enough? Anyone know, anyone tried?

    The 1999 one has a worn-out clutch. The other has a dead instrument panel (which I understand can get a little complicated). Wonder which one to salvage?

14. just did my first ever clutch job and main rear seal. ford focus 2000 about 10 hours or so got air tool and did not use them arr well next time i will thanks Eric

19. This is an excellent video. The equipment you use is what most diy mechanics would have. Except beam tool. You were working from the floor on your back which most of us would do (usually though it's pissing with rain) not hydraulic ramp. The step by step procedures is what I would follow myself. E.g when putting in bottom ball joints I was thinking once there in I would tap with hammer. Hey ho you did it. You had problems which was great we all have them but you worked your way around them in a way that we too would have to. All in all excellent content. 10 out of 10. Have subscribed. Thank you Eric the car guy.

20. One question my focus goes in the gear but does not have enough power to take off from the first years so once it starts rolling it's fine it's just going to take off

    Fine video as you have not only shown things going right.
    Just a question : why don't you use the second mount on your engine support for the gearbox ?
    That's how I do and it's going fine.

24. replaced my slave and master cylinder in the same car '02 focus. Can,t seem to get a clutch feel. Bled it by the bleeder valve…any idea how to bleed one of these? Seem to keep getting air in the system

27. Thanks for this video! Just finished redoing my 2001 zx3 clutch using this video as a guide. Since I have the MTX75 tranny, I had to improvise in a few spots, but would be happy to share my experiences with anyone here who is doing this for the MTX75 🙂

28. I have a 2001 Ford Focus Zetec. I know you showed how to bleed the clutch but for some reason I cant find the bleed screw. Any idea where else it could be?

    Thank you for this video set and great job! (I know this was done many years ago). I have a 2002 Focus wagon 5-speed (2.0L Zetec engine, 95K mi) and a 2005 Focus 4 door sedan 5-speed (2.0L Duratec engine, 185K mi). These are good transmissions and both are still on their original clutches. I had a 2001 Ford Escort ZX2 that went 275K miles and was still on its original clutch (same basic design as the Focus) before I scrapped the car due to extensive underbody rust issues

32. To be fair the engine not sounding good could be simply down to the e.c.u. re-calibrating after having the battery off and completely discharging the electrics

34. Thanks to this series of videos I put a whole new clutch kit seen just like the one in this video for my 2001 Ford Focus and I only paid 120$ plus trans fluid. I would of never even attempted such a task but thanks to ericthecarguy I'm back on the road again not having to worry about getting rear ended with a burnt out clutch

    🙂 this is almost exactly the same as the clutch on my fiesta uk which i did using this vid. those little metal things on the ball joints are grease guards
