  1. Hi Eric I have a 2005 Honda civic and I am having a hard time engaging the gears but now it just feels like there is nothing there when I push the clutch it's not slipping at all so I was thinking it might be the gearbox. I have had a mechanic drive it and he's saying it needs a new clutch which doesn't make sense to me.. I'm thinking it would just need adjusting but don't know how..any thoughts about it? It's a type S turbo diesel

  2. Hey Eric. I am commenting in 2021 from the East Coast. I am the proud owner of My 2005 scion xb with 241k miles. The car for last 7 months has no power when I hit the gas. Used to be only noticeable in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear. Now It takes me about 40 seconds to get to cruising speed once the stop light turns green. I think it is a clutch. It is bad. I thought it was a clutch and transmission but a guy test drove it and says it is only a clutch (not transmission). He says it is not both because the transmission would make noise, and it would slam back out of gear when shifting. He says my clutch will leave me stranded at a stop light any day now. I totally agree that I have pushed this to the point of a breakdown. He also stated it is not a transmission because beyond the absence of loud gear noise and the absence of gear shifter push back, that manual transmissions rarely go out. Please provide quick feedback.

  3. hi eric i had saturn astra had clutch pedale problem cant shift the first gear and the back gear , the rest working well , and i dident feel anything when i drive change the gears from the second to the fifth power go immediately to the wheel when i shift , i don't know may be y can help me , there is some nose in the pedal and clutch pedal are soft try it to bleed it get some resistance and after lost pressure , i think have to change the slave cylinder or what do you thinck about it , thanks

  4. one I would have liked you to say! is how much mileage had this car since INCEPTION?? This is the most INSTRUCTIVE information! so people can have an idea! usually, a clutch goes bad after 200.000 km ++ but can go faster if the guy driving is sporty…driving…or a moron.. SO if your car you bought as new! and is less than 200.000 km then is not the clutch..maybe is the throwout bearing…and usually, this is because of the HOUSING was damage from DIRT and inside.. or just the lubrication went dry..

  5. How I knew my 90 jetta was fucked. Stepped on pedal hard a bang and it didn't stall.
Was skipping school so that was an interesting phone call

  6. who are the 721 downvotes? Do you think Eric used too big of words for them to understand? lol

  8. I have a 05 pontiac gto with a stage 2 clutch and a short throw shifter that was put in by the previous owner, it only has 28k miles on it, when the car is being accelerated hard on or underload during torque like going up a hill I hear a rattle and it sounds like it's underneath the shifter more towards the transmission, and I have some minor wobble of the shifter in gear, would your guess be its more of a shifter problem?

  9. hey eric i had an issue with the clutch in the car i had and ive been driving stick since 1994 and ive never seen this happen before so im wondering if you ever seen this before and what may have caused it,when i 1st bought the car at a dealership i was told and showed paperwork that it had a brand new clutch put in when i bought it,and i never had an issue with the clutch at all,the only issues i had were when you shift it to 5th gear it grinds but only for that gear, the rest including R were not doing that and it did this after i bought it but it kept running the whole 3 years i had it,then at times it had trouble going from gear to gear but it went in,so it still ran,and the night after 11PM in the wintertime, just as it was changing to spring of 2019 i had new starter, tires, brakes and battery put in,and i even had a full tank of gas that night so im just driving normally i come to a 4 way stop, and all i did was make a normal left hand turn and i had no lights, smells, sounds, nothing,so all i did was push the clutch to the floor to shift it to 2nd gear,so when i released the clutch lie normal i saw the car wasnt picking up speed, the RPMS and engine were reving up and down,so i wanted to try to shift to N to try to pull over, and when i tried to push the clutch pedal i found that the pedal was stuck to the floor, but it didnt stall like it normally does if the clutch goes out on you,i tried shifting to N but it was stuck in 2nd,then i saw the car started to pick up speed,i tried to lock the brake pedal all it did was the tires squealed,i try the brake on the floor that you pull up,it pulled up,the brake light came on but it didnt do anything and that 1 on the floor was working before this,so i wasnt sure how to stop it,so then the car pulled to the right kind of like what you do to miss a deer, then the steering wheel locked like it would be when the engine is off and key is out,so the only thing that i could try was turn off the engine with the key,so thats what got it to stop, and it barely missed a parked car,and what stopped it was the curb that comes up from the ground where you put in stops signs etc,so the owner of that car came out cuz he heard the noise of the engine and turns out he was a cop for the city and that car was an undercover cop car,1 of the new chargers they made,so we called a tow truck and the driver had something on his truck where he can get under it without jacking the car up and he found and he even showed the cop what the problem was and im not sure what this part is called but theres something thats hooked to the clutch that makes the pedal move from inside the car that links to the engine, transmission and clutch so if the clutch is working it will drive like it should go in and out of gear etc, well whatever this part is was damaged and showed signs of being tampered with, but i didnt touch it at all,and the driver said hes never seen this in 45 years of driving everything there is that stick,so the driver and cop think it was vandalisim, when the dealership looked at it they saw the same thing as the tow truck driver,so i asked the price of what it would be to fix it and i was tolde if you dont count tax or tow your looking at $1800 to fix it,so i had no way to fix it so i sold it back to the dealership and only got $500 for it when i paid 3 grand in cash when i bought it,the kind of car i had was a 1996 or 1997 KIA Sportage SUV it had a 5-speed manual in it,have you ever seen this before
