I’ve been watching Sal and his MONSTER twin turbo Viper since he started racing it back in 2007! Thats right – over TEN years ago this beast was knocking out 7-second quarter mile passes like it was nothing. Fast forward to 2018 – Sal is running essentially the same setup, and now he’s setting RECORDS! 246mph in the half mile – are you kidding me?! Congrats to Sal and the team for CRUSHING the RWD half mile record.

An automatic Viper 🙁
This car is 250+ mph capable in the half mile if it could put all its power down. That’s the only thing keeping it from running with the TT Lamborghini and GTR’s on top of the half mile records. Amazing that it can do 244mph with just two wheels. Traction control is earning its worth trying to keep the power to the pavement.

when you think that the Viper V10 is basically a 318 small block dodge with 2 extra cylinders it's a wonder how they get so much power out of one . 30 years ago I had a 318 that made 500 plus but it was just for drag racing and would lift the front tires a foot on a dirt road and that was pushing what a stock block could do for the time . but with the advent of modern machining and all of the new materials we have access to we didn't have 30 years ago I would love to see what I could build now .
A stock 8.4L V10 block with "Dart cylinders" ..plus adding .040 over pistons and .180 inches of stroke to yield 542 ci., will get this Viper kicked into the Modified Class at the Texas Mile.. because this Viper isn't considered a "stock block" to the Texas Mile timing association. Possibly the reason he doesn't run the Texas Mile ..to prove the cars true merits.
