Well we are still working on it but I hope to get a ‘usable’ engine later this week and wrap this project up as I’m tired of looking at it. Thanks for sticking with me and all the great comments on the previous video.

  1. I suggest removing intake manifold would leave better clearly more room to work it’s not that difficult to install engine with room to play just idea lol good luck done it before an works great thanks

  2. Wish I would have seen this video before I had same 4.7 motor rebuilt two years later got it back together but cost me twice as much to do that but they are hard to find

  3. The dodge 4.7 is by far the worst piece of crap I have ever work on,and worked on,and worked on etc. Dodge I fucking hate you!

  4. The fact that you're willing to make mistakes, be wrong and keep it a buck with the rest of us is what makes you a GREAT mechanic and human being, and what will teach the next generation of mechanics and people. Thank you.

  5. I think you are a great mechanic and you have taught me lot in the few videos I have watched. You keep doing you, because you are great at it.

  6. I love the old eric the car guy videos been watching since I was like 13 and im 18 now and I know I have a lot to learn but i feel like ive learned a ton from Erics old videos just his tips and knowledge and way of explaining has made him an excellent teacher

  7. hey car guy why not take cylinder head off and screw strap into those holes to pull engine??? is that not good to do what ya thank

  8. I work on diesel trucks, trailers and reefers. There are many things that the manuals don't tell you. Mistakes are just part of it. People love to tell you what an idiot you are when you make them but had they not known about it they would have made the same mistake. Sometimes I hate working with other mechanics because everybody's an expert. I think it's important to build each other up instead of trashing one another. Love your videos.

  9. Too bad to hear about the replacement engine. It would seem you're dealing with goofs. The 3.7 I'm putting in a 1500 came out of a liberty the same year and they SAID they ran it. I've not had very much trouble out of my engine supplier so I trust them. We'll see when the key is twisted….Thanks for the vid, bud!

  10. why do you have the whole truck on stands?

also, why do you say 4×4 is harder…. can you put a 4.7 2wd engine in a 4×4 truck?

  11. Top job as always Eric……………thanks so much as I have an engine removal in the next few weeks…………inspiration is your forte ! yep your so right……………..mechanic is never one unless you learn by mistakes. Thanks again .
    .Awesome

  12. Much respect to you man. For admitting you make mistakes. I love your videos man and learn allot from them. Please keep them coming. Also do you have a way we can ask you questions for help with specific projects…

  13. Hey Great vid Eric.. humans always make mistakes – but thats how we become great !! make more mistake you will be perfect thanks again for great real life vids man ;))

  14. Is it possible to buy brand new engine from dealer?
    Would that be too expensive?
It looks like that truck is only a few years old.

  15. hm..I believe the diagnoses for the old engine is it wanted to be converted to diesel but no seriously those 3.7 and 4.7's are a joke in my opinion

  16. Gee, Eric!  Wasn't your fault.  You bought that engine in good faith that it was an intact, working item.  The fact that it came with a warranty means that you're off the hook for any mechanical problems, and the onus is on the seller.Granted, a cursory inspection might have been a good idea, but I'm thinking that you were already dreading dealing with a big truck and a V8, and maybe just wanted to get the whole thing over with.  We've ALL made errors, f-ups, boo-boos, mistakes, faux pas, etc. in our lives.  Please sideline the Monday morning quarterbacking, those who are shoulda'/coulda'/woulda'-ing.

  17. Your right these days it's not like rebuilding a small block chevy for a few hundred bucks. I just built a vortec v6 in a 99 chevy for 1200 but that's what they wanted
