Android Wear vs Pebble

Android Wear and Pebble are, arguably, the smartwatch ecosystems we all should be paying attention to. Josh has been using them for a little while now and has some thoughts regarding both, in hardware and in usage.

  1. I've had an LG G Watch for about a year now, and I really like it! but I'm thinking of switching to Pebble, since its a lot cheaper now, and I think I'd prefer a more tactile control scheme; I have fat fingers and I constantly hit the wrong button in Wear :/ has anyone here tried both?

  2. hi, can you tall me please where did you buy that pebble's band at the end of the video? the biggest one, a bracelet simile. I really want it, and i'll wait for your answer ok? anyway great video!

  3. The amount of children picking the Android Wear over the more functional Pebble because it's touchscreen is TOO DAMN HIGH

  4. Yes the battery life is not as good with Android Wear (Android Wear devices have a better screen)
There are already over 300 Android Wear apps and the are not all tied to your phone apps? The video makes it sounds like there are only a few Android Wear apps, now many of the Android Wear specific apps are not that great and most install first on your phone then syncs to the watch. Why do more people own Android phones over the iPhone? Because Android has more hardware manufacturers and more choices. The same will have with Android Wear devices, Samsung, LG, and Motorola are on board and more are coming.

  5. People who pick the pebble for solely for its battery life should also pick a flip phone over a smartphone for the same reason.

There's no comparison here, android wear has far more functionality than the pebble.

  6. surely there are apps by now, for example a music player, which utilise gestures to perform actions as opposed to needing to scroll between screens? I've often used rocket player for playing music whilst driving because the lock screen simply requires a swipe of the screen to change songs instead of aiming for smaller onscreen buttons. Surely it would be simple to scale that to the size of a watch face.

  7. Great comparison but the only thing you left out is Pebble is mature and Android Wear is in it's infancy. If an infancy product is on a level playing field as a mature one then there can only be 1 winner
