This happens more often than I like to see. The video covers my feelings just fine. I’ve seen those drain bolt repair kits, they leak so those of you that have mentioned that in the comments have been referred to this description just to read that. Life would be good if this didn’t happen but it does and here is the fix, I hope it saves you a lot of headache in the future as well as a BUNCH of money.

I bought a car and took to get oil change they have a thread cert in the place or the stripped area it gonna xost me 300 to get it changed car lot paid for the parts but I got to pay for labor

I Was at Autozone five months ago and brought a couple of ecoplugs $9.99 for my vehicles including the magnetic removal tool $9.99not only did ecoplug resolve my stripped oil pan problem on one vehicle on my other I installed it to make changing my oil better.I can literally drain my oil and reinstall the ecoplugs in a second without getting covered in oil.Word to the wise these ecoplugs have extremely strong magnets when using removal tool to remove ecoplug slide the tool off.
Finally a safe fast and permanent solution to a nighymare when pan threads strip out!
I have been purchasing and installing Ecoplugs these magnetic drain plugs solved my problems on stripped pan threads in seconds best of all you never have to deal with threads or oil leaks again.I have been buying Ecoplugs at Walmart or Autozone.
Will this work for a 2008 Toyota 4 Runner?
I was told this just happened to my oil pan, so I needed it replaced. It sucks because it sounds so easily preventable if people are just being careful. Now I'm afraid to get oil changes for the rest of my life. I guess I have to learn to do it on my own.
I have a 2012 ACura TL. I found a long plug that fits my vehicle but the bilt end is 13mm NOT 17 like the original. ANy ideas where I can find one that has a 17,mm bolt head? Ive looked EVERYWHERE

This may be a stupid question. Why cut it at all if you don't have the means to cut the bolt. Isn't it just a matter of more turns of the wrench?
What if the bolt will spin both ways in the oil pan but wont loosen or tighten. Just keeps spinning with a little tension

does the 14mm x 1.5 universally fit all drain pans or is that for a specific make?
Could not find the 14 ..1.5 anywhere at hardware stores or online ..frustrating

Thanks Eric, this worked perfectly on my daughter's 2010 Ford Fusion. After 140,000 miles the old pan couldn't take it any longer!
Thank you. This worked perfectly on my Acura TL. The funny thing is the hardest part was finding a bolt that size. Had to order it from a place online since no place carried it in my town. Save me a ton of cash because the same shop that striped it in the first place would've told me to replace the pan(mark-up).

First oil change after buying my truck ( I do my own work)…….. threads are 100% FU#KED!
Bought it from a dealer, who did the oil change before I bought it too!!!!!!!
Luckily my oil pan (05 sport trac) looks even easier then dropping the trans pan, which I already did on my 01……
BUT, if one bolt can save me the trouble… hell yeah!
I assume the holes threads go in further then the stock bolt does?
As the ONLY threads still left on the damn thing are the first few~!!!!
At least the oil filter was only hand tight to remove……………….
Eric the BMW stealer stripped it and wanted 4gs for a new pan. I cant thank you enough.
Just recently found Mishimoto now sells a magnetic drain plug for these engines that's much longer than the OEM so it also reaches good threads!
Ok way more cheaper than the time sert kit but won’t this come loose eventually as well? I don’t get how putting in a longer bolt would change the fact that the pan threads are stripped. Are the regular bolts shorter than the thickness of the wall of the oil pan?
