How To Torque Cylinder Head Bolts – EricTheCarGuy

Well this was a fun one to make. I believe I covered everything but if you feel I haven’t please let me know in the comments below as well as any tips you might have to add as well. I’m not trying to make a big deal about “pound feet” or “foot pounds” I’m just trying to put that out there, the important thing is that you get the proper torque and get the job done right in my opinion, what you decide to call it is up to you.

  1. Shouldve mentioned, also don't ever drop the torque wrench because if you do it can cause the readings to become inaccurate and needing adjustment again

  2. I have read that you are not to lubricate bolts etc. And if you do it requires a higher torque setting. Enjoyed your video. Thanks. I’m subscribing.

  3. Yes Eric!

What about when you are ONLY upgrading stretch bolts to a higher tensile bolt but NOT opening up the engine to repair head/ replace gasket /re skim block etc

Remove one bolt at a time replace with the new one going through all its stages and starting from the center working my way out like in this video ??

Any differences if the engine was cold /warm/hot? regarding torque specs ?

    Many thanks

  4. Im going from 60 ft lbs to 97 ft lbs and it seems my torque wrench is not going to click.. almost feels like the bolt wants to break. that's only my first run..0 somebody please give me an answer

  5. ..what about where it says 33 lbs 90 n 90 if you mark it at 90 n 90 with marker pen? By the way I enjoy your channel… 🙂

  8. Hi Eric, should I have to drain engine oil and coolant to replace the bent valves of car 2001 Daewoo Leganza? And also could you please give me the information about the torque required for the cylinder head bolts for this car. I will highly appreciate it. Thanks.

  9. bravo Eric the car guy you are the man on mechanical jobs but please answer my questions when i need your advice im a man trying to do some mechanical jobs on my own

  10. EricTheCarGuy, I would to make some important question about the Angle torque that you've on this video Snap on TA-360 is the only one that we can use?, because I've seen a lot of angle torque at eBay so chip price but Snap on TA-360 is really expensive, what is your best recommendation for this angle torque to buy the Snap on TA-360 or just any angle torque at eBay?
