Acura NSX-T – EricTheCarGuy

To tell the truth I don’t know what year this car is. I think it is a 96 or 97 but I’m really not sure. Someone told me that it used to belong to a famous person in sports, I won’t say who, I don’t want to get into trouble. I’ve done quite a bit of work on these cars. If someone out there owns one I would love to do the work on it and film it for my ETCG series, I think it would make a great addition to the videos that I have. Contact me through the website if you have an interest in this.

I know a few of you will be pissed about what I’ve said about the car, for that I am sorry. I do feel however that the clutches do slip quite a bit and if I were to have my way I would put a high performance clutch and a Jackson racing supercharger on the car and be done with it. That’s just me though. Take one for a drive and judge for yourself, for now enjoy the video.

  1. I saw this video 10 years ago in high school, thinking man it would be cool to work on those. I did my first timing belt on one last week. Crazy how life works.

  2. It's a little depressing to randomly click between videos only to realize that they're many years apart, and watch someone instantly aging.

  3. The NSX has low low-end torque because of the VTEC; but that's the whole point of the VTEC. The car is designed to perform like a normal driver–meaning, be functional at speeds a normal person would drive at in normal conditions–yet still offer the high end performance of a supercar when you want it. Think of a Jaguar XJ220 for contrast.

The XJ220 was a death trap at low speeds. It's safer to drive the faster you go with it. It's entire design relies on speed and power to keep it pinned to the road. The NSX was designed to function in both areas. When you do that, sure, some compromises have to be made, but the point is that the NSX is really like 2 cars in 1. At low RPMs it's a sporty luxury coupe; at high speeds, when the VTEC changes the camshaft profile, it's a high performance track car.

  4. Eric, what do you think about the 2011+ mustangs mt82 transmission? I've heard it is unreliable and the auto mustang is better. But I want a manual if I ever get one so I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

  5. I'm too poor to have an NSX 🙁 It's my favourite car out of Japan! That's why I have the next best alternative. A 91 MR2 turbo with a 96 Japanese gen3 spec engine 🙂

Love your videos man! Keep'em going. I just joined your forum. See everybody there.

  6. @EricTheCarGuy You are an awesome guy but I hate you I have never even seen an NSX in real life. I would love to just sit in one let alone drive one. Eric you have fulfilled my dream.
