Using a Torch to Remove a Rusty Muffler Part 2 – EricTheCarGuy

Using a Torch to Remove a Rusty Muffler Part 2

I guess it goes without saying that this is part 2 of 2 but in case you missed it this is a video about using torches to remove rusty fasteners on an exhaust system to replace a muffler.

Work smart and careful when you do this so you don’t get hurt and blame me for it. Seriously, use your eye protection and be careful and you will be fine.

  1. Hi Eric, did you have to use extensions at the end of the exhaust pipe to have the exhaust clear the the under body of the car.Just asking because you had to flip the muffler to the side of the car? Thanks for explaining the torch setup,i always been leary of using one."Be a man and if you are a woman ,be a man "…LMAO

  2. Talking about good brand 2:39 min I bought a complete set for my Mazda 1991 MX6 from Bosal what you have heard of that brand thank you
Great video by the way and thank you for the help

  3. Installing cat back. Need to remove pipes that are rusted together at the clamp just in front of the muffler. I dont have a torch. Suggestions on how I could get the pipes loose?

  4. Whats wrong with using the same bolts? Didn't think red hot was hot enough to change the metal's molecular structure. I know white hot is enough to do so.

  5. Damn Eric so funny, i mean its your brothers car, i mean if i had to repair something on my brothers car i would want the newest and the most reliable parts for it but the way you did his car was like mmmmm whatever if it works or fits im okay with lmao….but nice video.

  6. I have a suggestion. If you use some "exhauste-paste?" I don't know how it's called. That will prevent leakage at the joints. Cheers! Great vid., as always!

  7. I put the exhaust on my motorcycle in 1985, and today it's in perfect condition. It has lived under a cover, outside, in the British climate, for all that time. I cannot express how I love stainless.

  8. When I purchased my 95 honda del sol I was young and put a aftermarket apex system on the vehicle. now that i am 30 im tired of the car sounding like a pissed off bee. when i called a near bye muffler shop they said they would have the change the entire system just to put a quiet muffler on. i dont understand why they would need to do that. its got a 2 and 1/2 pipe attached. can u please explain why they want to change everything and not just the muffler?

  9. Ive been fighting with my catalytic converter bolt on my 88 4runner v6 for about 2 days now. I HATE not having proper tools.

  10. Good video – you have a good instructional voice and just the right amount of jokes! I subscribed and will looking forward to your videos. My wife's car is making noise and will need a new muffler – after watching your video I feel confident that I can change her muffler (I know it sounds kinda a funny). Thanks and keep up the great work! BTW – I wasn't even searching for this but saw it on WoodTube.com.

  11. @CODxFUNxMAN Honestly it sounds like a waste of time to me but to each their own especially if you like giving the cops a reason to pull you over.

  12. @EricTheCarGuy I want to remove my muffler to make my car louder, but is it bad for the car in any way? Or is there any other way to make it louder?
