What HTC One M8 Means for Selfies? Android for Business & Google Now Comes to Chrome

http://lynda.com/android/ – Jayce talks about why the HTC One M8 has only a 4 megapixel rear facing camera, but a 5 megapixel front facing camera? Good news on Android for business, and how Google Now card features come to Chrome.

  1. I know this doesn't have to do with the video but my "Certified" "New" Galaxy S4 screen cracked on the inside within a week? Did it depend how it fell and the height?

  2. Is there anyway of blocking ads on my non rooted nexus 7 2nd gen while watching vids on browsers such as Google Chrome and dolphin browser?

  3. In my place, front facing cameras of phones locally sold here can be 8mp and even more. Though honestly this selfie thing is not my thing. Love nexus devices.

  4. i have the m8 its a quality phone but…
im taking it back under o2s 7 day change ur mind policy, the camera is so wannnnnnnk its unbelievable

  5. Wow I was just surprised at the quality of the night shot with the xperia z2 that looked amazing :O

  6. If you want top quality pictures go buy a camera ,all this nonsense about people moaning regarding low light or pixels is just silly ! get yourself a canon if you need top snaps ,otherwise these phone cameras are more than good enough for quick shots or selfies.

  7. Hey, can you explain about camera sensors in smartphones nowadays. It will be really useful for us as consumers to choose smartphones with great cameras to take nice pictures

  9. I think it's foolish for HTC to sacrifice image quality for low light shots…….. I guess HTC is aiming their interest at bar patrons who take lots of selfies……. And the term "Build quality" is being used in an incorrect way by people who clearly don't know any better. HTC's build quality is no better than anyone else's. It's their build MATERIALS that are different. What's so funny about that topic is that the Moto X came out in 2010 built mostly of aluminium and nobody cared. The RAZR M, RAZR HD, and HD MAXX, came out a couple years ago made of aluminium and carbon fiber and nobody said shit about that either. The point I'm making is that people don't give a shit about build materials unless it's an iPhone or looks like an iPhone. And since HTC put out the One (which definitely resembles an iPhone) this gives the iSheep a device to flock to therefore separating themselves from the rest of the sheep……. So if your reason for buying the One M8 is looks, congratulations on being slightly different than your iSheep brothers and sisters.

  10. I'm glad the President decided to stay with BlackBerry. I'm about to order my new Blackberry right now. It'll be nice to upgrade from Android to an OS that isn't so vulnerable……. I won't miss all the Android spam and malware. Not even a LITTLE bit.

  11. So… You're going to read this no matter how not clever it is? Awesome! Keep making entertaining and enlightening video's and I'll try not to abuse this power.

  12. so the htc one didnt really change just got slightly larger screen and two rear facing cameras and the 5mp front facing camera girls mostly do selfies not guys most of the people that get htc ones are usualy guys so high front facing camera is pointless unless for video chatting

  13. I dont understand this so called ULTRAPIXEL… Whats the reason to have 5mpx front camera? Does HTC think we take picture using front camera all the time? Great design & performance but not the camera… Once again i will have to pass.. Hopefully One 3(m9) will get better rear camera

  14. I rarely watch phone reviews because it brings on all types of back n fourth but your vids r refreshing I luv your presentation and humor keep going my friend your a breath of fresh reviews

  15. HTC could have had a better camera if they improved their optics and not necessarily increased the pixel count. But optics also cost money.

  16. Lower megapixel count does not mean better lowlight photography, you get better lowlight photograpy with bigger pixels, because they can receive more light, and making high megapixel count cameras with bigger pixels is more expensive, so they decided to go with 4 megapixels, but the megapixel count is not the reason of the better low light performance!

  17. Hey Jayce so I have Google now that I downloaded from the android authority website but my concern is how would I be able to update it when updates do come out. I have an s4 so could you help me out?

  18. Hey Jayce, I recently bought a galaxy note 10.1 2014 and i want to know if there is any chance to watch youtube videos on 1080p( with the app)? Please help!

  19. Lol, this is a terrible description of what megapixels mean for your pictures. "Lower megapixels means better low light performance"…Say What?! "Lower megapixel cameras have bigger pixels which let in more light"…that's just false.

  20. I took your advice from when we chatted on Twitter and picked the HTC One over the Moto X. Thanks again for being there with advice for us fans when we need ya. OH, the HTC One M8 was only $79 more do I order it. May as well have the best one out there for that little difference.

  21. Walked into my school library for the past week and looked around to see Word VS Google Docs out of the 30 computers the most people I saw with Word was 5. WAY TO LITTLE WAY TO LATE @Jayce Broda it's only a matter of time before parents and soon enough entire business switch I have a feeling Microsoft is going the way of Blackberry

  22. @Jayce Broda  I do like your videos Jayce but you're misguiding people quite a bit in this one when you're explaining megapixes

Lower megapixels doesn't automatically mean bigger pixels at all. First of all not all camera sensors are equally as big for that to be true. How big the camera sensor is a combination of how many pixels it has and how big those pixels are. The whole Ultrapixel concept is that they've opted for 2um pixels. If you for instance wanted to have an 8 megapixel camera with 2um pixels the sensor would have to be 18 mm thick(quite a bit).

HTC Desire 816 is a mid-range device they released this year, and that one has a 13mpx camera, but obviously with smaller pixels… Hence stating that the "Ultrapixel" name is a gimmick to keep manufacturing costs down is a wrongful and unfair statement. They're using that name because it's easier to tell people "ultrapixels" rather than saying "hey it's a 4mpx camera BUT it has larger pixels than other pgones bringing in 300% more light". They just really believe in the Ultrapixel concept instead of putting in a standard 13mpx camera. Whether that's a good choice or not is up to the individual to decide.. But it's unfair to say that they're tricking people..

Having all that said, I do hope we'll get atleast a 6 Ultrapixel camera next year.. 🙂
