BTW, the thought that a president could pardon himself is absurd. If it were valid to do so there would be no need of any laws or courts. A president could hire civilians to do his illegal bidding then pardon them and hire them again to try once more and repeat the process until successful. The thought is absurd. He could even commit treason by standing down the military while a foreign power was permitted to occupy Washington and then pardon himself.
