Correct me if I got it wrong. But to avoid that problem in future as Iphone user, as well as having a dual way synchronisation, I'd import the apple calender with your second step to my google an use this one in future. On android as well as on apple

I used the 2nd method, downloading the calendar from the Apple Cloud backup and importing it into Google Calendar. I was literally done in minutes.
The instructions were clear and concise and worked just as the video said it would.
