It’s really sad that her family would be willing to let go of the idea of Jimmy murdering their child/sister all because they refuse to admit she could have slept with a black man. 😔 And someone doesn’t just become a violent rapist, it’s been in them so Rodney seems to be a scapegoat. At first no one could prove she was seeing Rodney and then someone came out with info and they still don’t believe it. Down south ignorant thinking.

This jimmy guy looked way older than Stacy was at the time.. she was 15 and got pregnant? He looked like a 35 yr old wife beater. and the mom was okay with that because he shared her ‘Christian values’, you’ve got to be kidding me. The mother feels shame/ embarrassment because of the racist views in that little town AND the hurtful church gossip about her daughter being promiscuous.
Even if in her heart of hearts she knows that Jimmy did it, but she is choosing to hold onto that false narrative because to her THAT is better than openly acknowledging /admitting/accepting that she was in a consensual relationship with a black guy in that town.
