The Perfect Balance of Power and Weight!

A Sunbeam V8 Tiger is not a common sight, but this is one of the coolest little cars we’ve seen in a long time! We LOVE how Serious of a punch this little car had! Pushing 525hp out of a Ford Racing Engine in a car that weighs in near that of a 1st generation Mazda Miata is a truly capable combination! Lining up against Vipers, Bikes, Camaro’s and more, this little Sunbeam tiger wasn’t scared of any competition as it made several passes down Rantoul Aviation Center’s Airstrip during Omega Motorsport’s NoFlyZone Midwest event!

  1. For a +50-year-old car, it's damned fast. A lot of modern cars can't outrun that little bastard. 🙂
It's a bit unruly to drive due to the short wheel base but that makes it just even more of a thrill.

  2. Great Sunbeam Tiger! I think i'd go with an aluminum headed 427 windsor based stroker engine and get it up too 700+ rwhp without much weight gain and see how good the little Tiger does. ! Haha. Like his trailer too!

  3. Yeah the little Sunbeam tiger is a fast little car I had a couple of them. they will do a hundred and fifty miles an hour and more. They will run the Sunbeam Alpine in the ground.

  4. British car with British styling with ford and AC and the powerful 2nd gen versions even had Shelby cobra engine Jenson interceptor was quite similar aswell

  5. There was a ROW, a whole row of these at Hilton Head Concours last weekend. Even a 1-of-1 fastback version. I was going to buy one that was sitting in a yard in 1997 in Exeter, PA, but it was really rusty. It did have the complete Ford engine. When I opened the door, it fell off, and there was no top, so years of weather had hit the floor and interior…

  6. Those types of cars are so much more fun to me. I don't care if they are "Slower", they are stupid fast but, still scare the hell out of you. That's why I can't wait to start building a Caterham super 7 kit car when I get a new house with a bigger garage. Fastest thing ever? No. Scary fast and small? Yes! especially after turbo and ethanol.

  7. Thanks for featuring my Tiger on 1320video. I've owned Tigers for 35+ years and think they are great little cars . Sunbeam Tigers are fairly rare , only about 5000 were imported to the U.S.A. Now , thanks to your very popular channel more people will know about that other little British roadster with a Ford V8. At my next event on June 3rd , the Tiger ran 171.2 mph at the Arkansas Mile.

  8. Cool as hell and unique, love hearing something different to LS but can't help think what that car could do with a modern 427ci+ LS jammed up front. It probably wouldn't have been beaten by any of those cars lmao. Considering how old that ford motor is, it's doing damn well and props deserved where they are due.
All you US based LS haters are laughable. You do realize that everywhere outside of CAN/USA and LS is pretty fucking rare and quite unique in most swaps or vehicles?
I live in the land of JDM imports aka everything is a fucking TUUJAYYY ARRBEEEE OR 13BEEE with a rare 1UZ swap. So LS swaps are rare as fuck and most fanboys have no idea about them, thus are a breath of fresh air.

  9. OK, that's pretty nuts. I owned a Tiger for a few years, and until you've worked on one, you have no idea how tight the engine bay is. You change the #8 spark plug through a trap door next to the gas pedal.

As for an LS swap – not unless you're going to do major surgery. The old Ford small block fit because it's dimensionally tiny. Even then, the 302 was the max you could get in without hacking stuff up. The 351c or w wouldn't go 'cause the extra deck height meant the valve covers would run into things.
