The pushback is going to come from those didn't make money off of it! Rehabs / prisons/ jails excetera all of these institutions make a fuckload of cash. And they're going to argue from every angle they can. They'll do what they can to make you feel bad about it. Or make you feel foolish for even entertaining the notion. Continuing the war on drugs and making criminals out of addicts is foolish. Allowing organizations to form and become extremely powerful is more than foolish! We can accept the fact that people die. And that people should have the right to do what they want with their own bodies. They should be allowed to acquire substances that are as safe as possible regulated monitored and dispensed by people who know what they're doing. There is a few other things that should occur along with this but I won't even get into that. This comment would become an essay. I honestly don't believe it I'll see it in my lifetime. As long as money rules everything, the drug war & black markets will always exist!

Well I did not expect to here marijuana should be decriminalized from this guy. It's funny how stuff like what he said gets old while being truth. The only thing doesn't get old are his girlfriends
Simple example. Spaniards brought cattle, chickens, pork, Marijuana, tomatoes, ect… But let's pick out only the Marijuana to criminalize just cause I don't like it. That's what the government sounds like more like bullying my culture and heritage with lies to the whole country , which is supposed to be protected under the Constitution. Sounds more like a personal problem to another race, which I don't mind whippen that ass, this is why I wouldn't be a good in person politician , there would be alot of racists on their backs pretty quick
The government lied to the country to create a war against minorites and their culture, hence racism, they claim they love Jesus Christ but he was brown , they wouldn't know the difference between him and a Mexican now a days they probably would make him look criminal and attack him and his family for being brown.
I love how they try to convince us at the end that oh I got treatment from going to jail! BS JAIL is NOT beneficial in ANY way in this equation. Non violent drug cases need to end they don’t belong in court. All that wasted money could build all kinds of centers and treatment options.

In WA, at least in my area, when you get caught with drugs you usually have the choice of rehab or jail but either way it's still on your criminal record which doesn't help when people are trying to turn their life around.

Well,Democrats now have the Power. We voted to end the drug war and end the Police State. Let's see if Biden and Harris keep Thier Promises! Addicts deserve compassion not imprisonment. Drug dependency already complicated Thier lives,incarceration only compounds thing it doesn't solve the problems!!!! We showed Our support for this by giving Thrm Our Votes in The Judiciary,Legislative and Administrative Offices. Don't let Us down, We won't give another chance to get this right. Too many Ad.inistrations have skated through on this and instead focused on tough on crimes legislation!!!!!
Maybe end the war on weed and harmless drugs but meth and others should still be illegal. And if they are so addictive how can I do it for a month smoking more than people that were suppossably addicted to meth and then put it down no problem and havnt touched it in over a year and havnt craved it.
Maybe its telling people they need it that screws them. Placebo effect is powerful after all
Legalize . Regulate . Tax
Taxes collected should fund treatment. Regulations should be proportionate to the danger of the drug. Information should be on the container warning about side effects of drugs. It should be kept out of the hands of minors <18 year olds. Prohibition only fuels drug gangs just as alcohol prohibition did. We really need to limit the scope of government, especially on matters concerning the personal lives of adults. The demand will always be there. Would you rather have them get their fix from a licensed facility where the company are going to be peaceful? Or drug cartels that torture, rape, and carry out hits on rivals? Purchasing drugs from the cartels fuels the egregious abuses of the cartels, purchasing drugs from licensed facilities will not which is why I want a regulated legalization.
Just one question… After 50 years, over $1 trillion spent, and the world's highest incarceration rate, how are we better off as a country because of the war on drugs?
Take the money out of drugs and you have no black market. So, right now we're funneling people into treatment from jail. Why not just do the same thing but funnel them from social services rather than jail. We should have drug courts where people can get treatment. You might as well say that cannabis is legal in northern California. You can buy it at the store and grow up to 6 plants yourself. That's plenty enough for me and my friends. But no hard drugs, no methamphetamine, no heroin, no cocaine.
So hopeful and glad that people like Michelle Alexander and Morgan God in exist. I hope when I'm steadier in recovery I can join this fight.
