As a white mom in Suburbia I have to report that besides the grotesque crime committed by the police officers, the thing that breaks me most is that the community did not rush and tackle the police, or call the state troopers in, or the firehouse, or the football team. What mental abuse has that Community endured that would cause them to have the presence of mind to Stand By and Watch without going crazy? How many incidents have they endured? The community has been so abused and reviled that they had no hope of saving George. It's heart- wrenching.

    In My Pride I would like to think I would be one to rush in and wildly throw things and scream to try and stop or distract them, or go get my car and approach them, doing something, ANYthing, to shake up the mesmerizing power of that torturous death. Annnnd get shot. So to realize that these bystanders and nearby shoppers and shop owners were all paralyzed in fear …or watching in appreciation… is honestly too big for my brain. It's just so terrible. So shameful that we have allowed such demeaning racism to thrive.

    The community was almost trained NOT to respond. Knowing they absolutely would be next. So they watch in terror, minute after minute, as though there was NOTHING else to do. Almost like it was normal. Or EXPECTED. That THIS was not the first, OR LAST time. That it was not all THAT outrageous. I will never forget that officer's hand on the hip attitude. What an animal. Such hate.

    It makes me tear up right now that this nation has such vile pockets of abuse that is protected by others and is so sick and arrogant to have just discarded and overlooked these abused and abandoned souls. Our fellow American citizens… churchgoers, ex-military, students, … that none could Step Out CHANGE the Disgusting outcome. All of the shop owners up and down the walkway…Where were they hiding? It's a torturous monstrous mark on our generation, young and old.

    We have to start taking care of our own…by taking care of others around us. We worship our sports teams but are unwilling to have one another's back in real life against violence and abuse and hatred? We know HOW…we just WON'T do it? This is such an outrage. We MUST Change this. YET, every day, somewhere, someone closes their door to the 65yo Asian lady on the ground. Oh, it makes the national news. They are already being killed. But won't reach out to help each other? THAT'S how ingrained this is. No more. We have to stop.

    May God have mercy on us all for such hatred over something HE ordains…skin color. May he allow us time to change. These events are opportunities to make the future better than this. Don't lose the moment. We don't know how many more we get.
