  1. She was a part of my childhood. I used to love reading Ramona Quimby books as a kindergartner, and first grader. I also remember when the teacher would read those books to us and then allow us to watch the film at one point. Some days I wondered if she was going to be immortal or die, but now that she actually died, I miss her. R. I. P. Beverly. You were a part of my childhood.

  2. We all grew up with Ms Cleary's gift, of awesome children's storytelling! May this lovely lady's 104 years of life bring all our future generations, her storybook gifts … to savor, and share! 💓💕👍

  3. Children should learn that reading is pleasure, not just something that teachers make you do in school.

Her books were definitely funny and full of adventures! Thank you for creating such wonderful stories for generations of kids!! I read them to my kids and my still read them to my students.

  6. So sorry to hear of her passing but what a wonderful influence she had on my childhood.

I will never forget reading The Mouse and the Motorcycle in third grade. Actually, our teacher read it to the class each day when we returned from lunch.

It is the most memorable book of my childhood.

    Thank you, Mrs. Cleary!!

  7. I grew up having the stories of Ramona Quimby and Henry Huggins read to me, and I can remember being surprised when I found out they were written fifty years ago, which I guess is a testament to how beautifully timeless they are; the fact that they still hold up to this day just shows how Beverly Cleary ingeniously captured the essence of childhood! And while she may be gone, her legacy will live on.
