  20. The religion Islam revealed by God Almighty
    and taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) speaks of no worldly punishment against Blasphemy. Blasphemy is generally defined as the exhibition of irreverent behaviour or language towards God, religion or anything held sacred. Unfortunately, many Muslims around the world, believe that blasphemy is a worldly punishable act, and Muslims are duty-bound to punish mockers and blasphemers. They believe that if someone speaks against God, the Holy Muhammad(sa), the Holy Quran and Islam he must be punished ; However, the reality completely differs from such concepts and the Islam taught by Prophet of Islam(Peace and Blessing of Allah Almighty be upon him) speaks of no worldly punishment whatsoever against blasphemy. No question of death or anything else for that matter.

    Blasphemy is certainly condemned in the Holy Quran on moral and ethical grounds but no worldly punishment is prescribed for it in Islam despite the commonly held view in the contemporary world. If one studies the Holy Quran extensively and repeatedly with deep concentration, he/she will fail to find a single verse which declares blasphemy to be a crime punishable by man. Although the Holy Quran very strongly discourages indecent behaviour and indecent talk, or the hurting of the sensitivity of others, with or without rhyme or reason, Islam does not advocate the punishment of blasphemy in this world nor vests such authority in anyone. God Almighty has informed Muslims clearly, in His revelation, how to face and response to blasphemous attitudes:

    (Holy Quran @1) ''He has already revealed to you in the Book that, when you hear the Signs of Allah being denied and mocked at, sit not with them until they engage in a talk other than that; for in that case you would be like them. Surely, Allah will assemble the hypocrites and the disbelievers in Hell, all together''.

    (Holy Quran 6: 69)''And when thou sees those who engage in vain discourse concerning Our Signs, then turn thou away from them until they engage in a discourse other than that. And if Satan cause thee to forget, then sit not, after recollection, with the unjust people''.

    It should be noted that God Almighty not only disallow the believers to take the punishment of the blasphemer into his or her own hands, but also has advises them to leave the company of such people until they change their discussion. What a beautiful response to the utter ugliness of blasphemy! Not only does Islam disallow any human being to take the punishment of the blasphemer into his or her own hands, but declares that people should register their protest against blasphemy by staging a walkout from an assembly of men where religious values are being mocked and ridiculed. Suggestions of any positive measures aside, not even a permanent boycott of the blasphemer is prescribed by the Holy Quran. On the contrary, the Holy Quran makes it amply clear that this boycott is only to last for the period during which the act of blasphemy is being committed.

    All Holy prophet of God Almighty like Noah, Abraham, Lot, Saleh, Shuaib, Moses and Jesus etc.(peace be on them all) were mocked and blasphemed by their enemies and opponents. Questions naturally arise: How did Holy Prophets(pbut) react to blasphemy? Did they ever punish the blasphemers? The Holy Quran clearly speaks about the treatment of those mockers and enemies of God’s prophets: (Holy Quran @)“And surely, Messengers have been mocked at before thee; but I granted respite to those who disbelieved. Then I seized them, and how was then My punishment!”. The verse points out clearly that the punishment of blaspheming God and His Messengers always rests with God alone; and it is up to Him whether He punishes such persons in this world or in the next world. Authority to punish the blasphemers has not been delegated to anyone, not even to the Prophet (Pbut).

    In the Holy Qur’an, God Almighty had suggested no punishment to Holy Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) for blasphemous expressions uttered by disbeliever, but had instructed him(pbuh) to bear patiently and ask God Almighty for his solace and consolation: (Holy Quran @1): ''Bear patiently then what they say, and glorify thy Lord with His praise before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and glorify Him in the hours of the night and at the sides of the day, that thou mayest find true happiness''.

    No Muslim can claim to know Islam more than the Holy Prophet of Islam(pbuh), so, let us have the true understanding of this issue from him directly and let us see how he treated with blasphemers. There is a case of blasphemy so serious that it is recorded in the Holy Quran itself, which took place during the life of the Holy Prophet (pbuh), also briefly recorded in the Holy Quran, and alone can refute the idea of punishing the blasphemers.

    “Before the Holy Prophet's (pbuh) arrival in Medina, there was a prominent leader who by the consensus of Medinite, was rising to be their joint leader. His name was Abdullah Bin Obey Bin Salul. After the Prophet's (pbuh) arrival things gradually changed and instead of Abdullah, and instead of ''Abdullah'', the Holy Prophet(pbuh) was accepted by the common consensus of people as their new leader. This made Abdullah Bin Obey Bin Salul extremely jealous. He went on giving voice to his injured feelings in one way or another. His behaviour was such that the other Muslims referred to him as the chief Monaafiq, meaning the chief of hypocrites.

    Once, when returning from an expedition which was overall a failure and all participants were extremely tired and disappointed, this man Abdullah, thought it a fit time to take his revenge. In the presence of a few people, he declared that upon returning to Medina, the noblest among them would turn out in disgrace the meanest of them. Allah Almighty has mentioned it in His revelation: [Holy Quran 63:9] They say, ‘If we return to Medina, the one most honourable will surely drive out therefrom the one most mean;’ while true honour belongs to Allah and to His Messenger and the believers; but the hypocrites know not. The message was clear and everyone knew what he meant. The companions(ra) of Holy Prophet(saw) understood the implied insult to the Prophet of Islam(Pbuh). The companions(ra) of Holy Prophet were seething with indignation and rage. Hadhrat Umarra asked permission of the Holy Prophet(Pbuh) to kill this man; he said that the insult on the person of the Holy Prophet(saw) was far too much for them to tolerate. But the Holy Prophet(Pbuh) did not allow any retribution.

    It is reported authentically that tempers were running so high at this incident that no less a person than the son of ‘Abdullah bin Ubayy himself approached the Holy Founder of Islam (Pbuh)seeking permission to kill his father with his own hands. The son argued, "Oh Messenger of God, perhaps you thought that if you had permitted someone else to kill my father, I being his son, may harbour a private sense of revenge. However , my father deserves this punishment for the insult he has hurled against you, so please permit me to slay him." (For centuries, the Arabs were accustomed to take revenge at even the smallest insult hurled at them or their close relative. Perhaps, this custom was what the son had in mind). But the Holy Prophet of Islam(Pbuh) refused to grant his request nor did he permit anyone else from among his Companions to punish the hypocrite, ‘Abdullah bin Ubayy, in any manner whatsoever. (By Ibn Ishaq: Al-Sira tun Nabawiyya by Ibn Hisham, pt.III; p.155).

    They all returned to Medina and for many years this man lived in peace under the full protection of the Holy Founder(Pbuh) of Islam, against whom he had blasphemed. When Abdullah Bin Obey Bin Salul. died at last, a natural death of course, to the surprise of everyone, the Holy Prophet of Islam(Pbuh) gave ‘Abdullah’s son his own shirt so that he could enshroud his father’s body for burial (a singular act of blessing, indeed, which must have left the other Companions yearning to barter it from the son at the cost of all their possessions). Not only that, the Holy Prophet(sa) also decided to lead his funeral prayer. This decision must have deeply disturbed many of his Companions who could never forgive ‘Abdullah for the grievous offence mentioned above.

    Yet, it fell to the lot of Hazrat Umar(ra) to give voice to their suppressed uneasiness. It is reported that as the Holy Prophet(Pbuh) was proceeding to the funeral, Umar(ra) suddenly stepped forward and stood in the way begging the Prophet(sa) to change his decision. In doing so, Umar (ra) reminded the Prophet(Pbuh) of the verse of the Holy Quran in which reference is made to some known hypocrite on whose behalf intercession would not be accepted even if the Holy Prophet (Pbuh) prayed for him seventy times. The answer was: "Umar, get aside; if God has informed me that he would not forgive the hypocrites even if I prayed for them seventy times, I would pray much more than that in the hope that Allah will ultimately forgive them. The Prophet(Pbuh) then led the funeral prayer. (Bukhari, Kitabul Jana‘iz, Babul Kafani fil Kamisilladhi Yukaffu ‘au la Yukaffu).

    Such was the character of the Holy Founder(Pbuh)of Islam. He was a man of extreme compassion, a man of principles, a man who lived a life of truth according to the teachings of God Almighty and nothing but else.This is a golden example of patience and mercy of Prophet of Islam (Pbuh) for Muslims to understand and follow the true essence of the teachings of Islam.

    Aren't the police trained to catch the suspect alive for investigation in order not to accuse people wrongly? There was no one armed their, so why killing him instead of catching him?

Everyone talking about islam isnt peace but is it right to Show cartoons about there Prophet we muslim told france to stop with it they didnt stop and when a teacher shows a cartoon of our Prophet and teils the muslim kids to look away if they dont wanna see it thats just insane and then Therese the President Who has nothing in his mind and says that they will contnue with making cartoons of our Prophet and thats a good sulutuon right no it isnt so stfu
