  1. Country Pride

Gory, I don't know whether teams are obligated to continue playing due to being sued for not doing so or if they're pushing to keep playing out of some desire to grant normalcy to fans and to players, but what's going on in people's heads? It feels like the need to keep earning ad dollars, else all come tumbling down, is driving this thing. Most think this behavior of everyone so abnormal– that they're being obtuse and reckless for greed or pride or politics or lust– they're blaming players, coaches and owners for endangering themselves irrationally and intentionally (and the coaches refusing to wear masks doesn't help). But something else seems to be operating here– some legal imperative– that's forcing teams to play.

Well, if that's true, if we come to find the league forced these men (and women somewhere, probably) to risk their lives unnecessarily for ad dollars to keep the industry alive, that's the end of the league and heads are going to roll. The league will be charged with 2nd degree homicide, premeditated murder, willful negligence and just for being assholes by states, by teams, by coaches, by players, as well as by the federal government, ruining the entire industry and its reputation for years and years to come.

I think we're witnessing how valuing short-term goals with no focus on long-term consequences is so dysfunctional as to be suicidal. I think we're witnessing the last gasps of the league, a league that has plainly voiced what their priorities are. I think we're witnessing a form of coercion that's so similar to slavery it puts capitalism's needs in the same realm as fascism's or communism's.

I'm not trying to be hyperbolic; we assume players and staff have a choice, that they can choose to not play, to not endanger their lives. But what else are they to do? They'd likely be sued to their shirtsleeves for breaking their contracts, they can't play anywhere else and would be ostracized for standing their ground, what choice do they have but to obey?

Higher up, the league itself would face similar suits from advertisers and investors and business partners for breech of contract, should eyes not get on the product. Such suits would cripple the league. Excuses, like people might die, don't enter into that equation; contracts will have still been broken, no sympathy for oath breakers, cowards or deceivers; extenuating circumstance don't apply when such vast sums of wealth are involved.

Figure the wrong heads will roll, that those pulling the strings have already drawn up contingencies to foist responsibility onto owners and coaches and even players, scapegoating lower execs to avoid accountability. Figure ad companies– the driving co-conspirators– will get off scot-free, though sales might slump for a time and reputations might take another hit. Figure yet again those who've done the deed will escape due justice, defending themselves by saying everyone participated of their own free will, that no one forced players to play to earn their pay, that no one forced coaches to coach to earn theirs, that no one forced owners to agree to carry on, that no contracts were used as a threat over anyone's heads.

Heads seem to come up a lot in this piece, like an offering to the guillotine. However the reality of that plays out, I figure the real blade hanging over us all is this illusion of choice, severing us from our cherished structure of democracy walking hand-in-hand with capitalistic endeavors, just to be walking to the gallows.

Greatest harmed will be players, having suffered both through the experience, the ridicule to follow and the loss of their careers. Lesser harmed, yet more impactful, will be the fans, but no one cares about them anymore– they're just nutters who drive ticket sales and the reason advertisers invest, the people who keep the league alive. Perhaps even more greatly harmed than either, however, will be our sense of trust and faith in our system of economics, having seen greater harm exploited and capitalized upon so starkly and so cruelly, crowding out the great prosperity it normally would offer– would any choose to employ a little common sense or respect for its fragility and needed symbiosis.

Yes, poor outcomes will come from this– poorer lives and poorer futures. Yet the greatest impoverty to visit our country will be being aware of this blade hanging over all our heads, further cowering our pride and spirit.

  2. Jesus Christ saves from sin.
    Romans 3: 23
    For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    Hebrews 9: 27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
    Isaiah 64: 6
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
    Revelation 21: 8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
    Romans 5: 8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
    John 3: 16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    John 14: 6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
    Romans 10: 9-10.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
    John 5: 24
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
    1John 5: 10-13
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
    Ephesians 2: 8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    Romans 8: 1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
    1 Corinthians 15: 3-4
    For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    2 Corinthians 5: 21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

  3. Bunch of snowflakes complaining about Americans expressing their freedom of speech, I hope you guys realize that the people who run the nfl don't care for BLM if that makes your little feelings better

  4. Attention ALL sports!!!! Y’all sit y’all butts down til there is a safe and effective vaccine!!! America can survive without sports for a while !!! Lordy!!!!

  5. Set Set hike hike😠😠 Look out, Golstein and Raffi are back. This is the news of most profound, will effect down to journalism class Columbia best in the conference, wouldn't go anywhere but hair bears don't do that. Ball is lost, fell out of sync with others left in dark melancholy purposes, cannot be written with speech.

  6. Most of their “positive” cases are from the bullshit “contact tracing” and NO ONE is actually SICK. Only pandemic ever where you must get tested to know you’re sick. Shut down the fucking world for a virus with a 99.7% survival rate which is on par with the average influenza survival rate. Smart, real smart. SMH.

  7. The only deaths from Covid are those who had pre-existing conditions, other than that its not even as worse as the flu! People with pre-existing conditions are gonna be more at risk for any illness they get, why do we all keep going along with this?

  8. ,With a 99.99 percent recovery rate and a death toll of 12,000-15,000 people , predominantly frail seniors , Covid19 is LESS significant than the annual flu. Why would the NFL shut down for the flu? GOVERNMENT TYRANNY and the takeover of American society.

  9. Who cares ?
Me, and my three sons, are done with the NBA and the NFL.
Grown men making millions to play with balls.
Then they trash the system that made them rich !!
    Morons .. done. Done. Done.
