That peace corps money should be going to reparations
It is absurd that a person can say out of their mouths that we do nothing to meaningfully affect the material conditions of these people the Peace Corps is meant to serve but we should continue to send Americans there for "soft diplomacy" and think that's ok. So, we "build relationships" so that they are amenable to American ideals, confer all these benefits onto the Americans who volunteer, and leave them with…friendships and fond memories? I really can't understand how we've convinced ourselves that such a model is anything other than exploitation.

As you may be aware the Budesonide protocol was pioneered by a Texas physician and shared to all that would listen for the past year. This information has now been confirmed to be effective by the Oxford University study (randomized control trial). This study showed a 90% reduction in hospitalization for people with COVID. Logically you can conclude that most people who died of covid died in hospitals. If the hospitalization was made unnecessary due to the effectiveness of the treatment it would be reasonable to further draw the conclusion that 90% of the lives lost could have been saved. This also would have made "flattening the curve" to avoid over whelming the healthcare services a non-starter/unnecessary. Further it also showed for the 10% that would still require hospitalization that their stays were reduced in duration by 50%.

Im Hakim from the Comoros island. I pay much respect for the peace corps volunteer what they do in our countries in Africa. My question is why peace left when there is a problem in a country? Stay in peace the peace corps.
