1JZ Challenge – Engine Install & FIRST START!

Working unbelievably late (or should I say early), we got the engine and transmission mounted and we’re able to fire it up – but there was a BIG problem. ONE DAY LEFT!

  1. You need oxy acetylene setup and that stud will come right out. Propane doesn’t get hot enough. The key is to get the corner of the manifold glowing red then twist it out with pliers.

  2. Quick question guys please…Did you put the pressure plate without bolts on it? Watching the process I did not see the moment you reinstall the pressure plate bolts. Thank you

  3. You need to talk to some old timers like me so you can learn some tricks to make your work easier and you can work with far more confidence.

  4. Kid, I spent 40 years as a mechanic, when you have a broken off stud like that at 0:49 you need to get that manifold section up to dull red – cherry red heat and then give the stud a wriggle back and forth then start to undo while keeping the heat on the manifold. Also while it's red hot give the stud a bit of a resounding whack straight up to make the thread release, works nine times out of ten….A bit of brute force and ignorance in that situation can go a long way!

  5. Shouldn't be acting like you know shit if you cant get that stud out! Lmao! Money can't buy you skill or ability as demonstrated in this video.

  6. stuck studs: mini pipe wrench+ more heat – then freeze stud with computer duster(canned air) turned upside down
