(Even though the stores began preparing and selling foods that were close to expiring, if not already passed their expiration dates, to cut their losses. When I grocery shop, I buy store brand, I use coupons if I have them, I buy items on sale, I generally buy the same items week after week and try not to splurge on non-essentials . . . maybe one extra item per visit (this week was a bag of Cheetos). I bypass the meat department almost entirely, save for a pound of hamburger or some discounted chicken. Generally, my proteins are eggs, hot dogs, and cheap lunch meat. I wish I could go in and just shop and shop for whatever is needed, but not with prices lately.

There is no logic in what the store manager says. "People have less money, so they buy less." Yes, but lowering the prices is only destroying the supermarket. People won't spend more, but get more for their money. Later this market is bankrupt and people can go to another market until this one is bankrupt, too. Free market solutions are much better. Increased prices will also make the farmers who produce this food, motivated to produce it. If you lower the prices, the farmers get less and more likely they go bankrupt. On the long run this means, that less farmers are producing food, and thus you also have less products in the market to be sold. Then the price is going up again and nobody profits in the end. Please learn something about inflation, thank you. The prices only go up, because the central banks are "printing" more money and give it to people. Money based "solutions" are no solutions, they are a "magic trick" which is an illusion, because printing more money and handing it out, does not solve ANY problems.
