It’s way to easy to become a cop, I have a friend who’s a ex cop and he told me how a lot of them just joined because the needed a job/career and the opportunity was available, training academy is less than 6 months but your average trade or even becoming a barber takes at least twice as much time then it does to become a cop, that’s why I think police training should be at least 1-2 years in just the law itself, that way you will never have incompetent cops who’s law training only consists of 6 weeks, Plus we already hold cops at a very high status in our society up there with doctors and lawyers so make the training reflect that status and that way you weave out all the people who don’t deserve to be there, you’ve never heard of a professional Lawyer or Doctor who say they joined the profession because they just needed a job, real professionals have to work hard to get to their position and no one‘s gonna go through 2 to 4 years of training if they aren’t that serious about it
