Love Intervention: Then & Now? Stay up to date on all of your favorite A&E shows at http://aetv.com/schedule.

Though he grew up in a close-knit family, Joe has felt lonely and isolated all his life. As a child, he was tormented by neighborhood boys, and his father viewed him as a failure. At age 8, Joe learned “the choking game,” in which a person uses his hands to cut off the oxygen supply to his brain to get high. Joe loved the sensation, and choked himself daily throughout childhood. In high school, Joe discovered drugs, and now he’s a heroin addict. Joe is killing himself, and his family is desperate to intervene in Season 1, Episode 5, “Joe”. #Intervention

  1. 4 minutes in.. this dude woulda been better off starting with heroin. His brain is CLEARLY fuckd..look at his eyes n he cant put a sentence together smh

  2. When I was an opoid addict I was spending 300+ a day. If I saved all that money I'd probably would be able to retire before im 40. But now I'll be working till I die.

  3. And the sister that was hooked on cocaine for years has the nerve to talk and say literally he’s never getting out and that she lost hope instead of being more supportive of her brother what a hypocrite sister if you ask me.

  4. In the last year i have spent $30 grand on perc 30s. Not proud and hope i can quit soon. Im so stupid but im really not and i have a lot of potential. I just tried em at a party one day and boom a year later and im still thinkin bout how to get them everyday. Plz just smoke weed, do shrooms if u want and maybe some acid if ur up for it. Dont be stupid tho. Please dont be stupid

  5. How could you not love Joe? He is so special. I hope he continues to be well and is able to live a happy life.

  6. Wow this family. Saying this as someone who's never been an addict: but his whole family, maybe except the mother, think they understand addiction and know better. Their judgement and expectations of Joe, on top of Joe's father's unacceptance are pushing him towards heroin.

  7. I’m so grateful for the people that do the intervention and I ran a half way house and this is not about the family it’s about the addiction and if the family doesn’t get help they can not help the addict
