I think that we need to start talking about a new economic system. One that is not based on profit but rather based on the needs of the community and that functions for the common good. There is no reason for anyone to be hungry when there is plenty of food. There is no need for people to be homeless when there is plenty of available housing for everyone. There is no need for anyone to be working more than five hours a day to meet the needs of society and have no leisure time for the individual to create, to learn, to pursue their passions without enough food or shelter or work. There is no need for any of this. There is another economic system we can have that provides these things. One in which the individual can have all their needs met and live a life of dignity. All people deserve this not just the few people at the top of this economic system. We need to start talking about this and start setting up for a change. Join an organization and learn about other systems we can create. This one only works for the few and leaves nothing for the many. Start thinking about the world you want to live in.

This week they've got a heck of a lot less of all three thanks to the rioters, looters, and arsonists. Owners will collect the insurance payout and build elsewhere. The new insurance premiums will make rebuilding untenable.
